Unfortunately, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users won’t be able to play VALORANT on their consoles. Instead, the game will be exclusively released for current-gen platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. The developers usually follow this approach to maintain a standard of quality for the game by focusing on the latest hardware available in the market.
This will inarguably disappoint many players who were eager to try VALORANT on their consoles but the only option they now have is to upgrade to either a PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC to play the game.
When it comes to the release, Riot Games has officially confirmed that the first VALORANT console beta phase will go live on June 14, 2024, and it will be limited to a few regions – the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan. So, if you reside outside these counties, you might have to wait a bit longer. On top of that, it has been announced that VALORANT Console won’t support features like crossplay, which means you can’t team up with your PC friends.
Thankfully, the game will feature cross-progression, which syncs all of your progress across all platforms, which is specifically helpful if you own both a PC and a console.
