There was a lot of excitement going into this match between EDward Gaming and Sentinels in the VALORANT Champions 2024. This would be the first time these two teams face off against each other. It was a face-off between the old guard in Tenz and the new generation of VALORANT in Kang. This year has been a roller coaster ride for Sentinels. But, during the VALORANT Champions, it does look like they have gotten their mojo back at the right time.
Game one was played on Haven, which we’ve seen EDward Gaming succeed on. Sentinels flipped the script on their opponents this time, though, by taking the lead in the first half with a score of 8-4. EDward tried their best to win the game, but Sentinels were incredible in defense. This is especially true of their skill in the post-plant. Each of the five wins Sentinels secured in this match was by diffusing the spike. This was the case despite both teams having the same team composition on the map.
Game 2 was a different ball game. During the first half, the scores were level on Lotus. Their team composition with Smoggy on Clove, EDward Gaming could claw a map in their favor 13-9. It all came down to the last map, Sunset.

If there were a term to describe game 3, it would be demolition. CHICHOO and nobody from EDward Gaming ripped apart Sentinels. They ended on a KDA of 23/10/10 and 20/13/3, respectively, with seven first bloods between them. EDward won the match with a score of 13-6. EDward Gaming is the first VCT CN team to finish in the top four of an international VALORANT tournament. The Sentinels will now face off against FNATIC.

The second match from Day 14 of VALORANT Champions was between LEVIATAN and Team Heretics. We placed both teams in the top 8 in our power rankings. This was due to LEVIATAN having won the VCT Americas Stage two and continuing that form into this tournament. Team Heretics, on the other hand, rose following their loss to Gen G during the VCT Masters Shanghai.
Game 1 was played on the Icebox map. During this game, LEVIATAN selected Harbor as their secondary controller. Starting on the attack, LEVIATAN ended the first half with a lead of 7-5. The match got a lot more enjoyable during the second half. Both teams fought for the lead, leading it to overtime. By the end of the game, seven out of the ten players had 20+ kills. Ultimately, LEVIATAN won the first game with a score of 15-13. Ian “tex” Botsch ended the map with total of 7 first kills to his name.
Game 2 had two distinct storylines within it. The first story is about Erick “aspas” Santo. It felt like we were in his world. Each decision made by him seemed like the best choice in that moment. He ended the game with a KDA of 29/15/3. He also secured 4 3 K’s and five first bloods, helping his team maintain their lead during the match.
The second story was how Team Heretics on the defense just couldn’t stop LEVIATAN. After taking the lead during the attacking half, Team Heretics lost the first seven rounds in a row on defense.
With this result, LEVIATAN will face EDward Gaming in the upper bracket final of the VALORANT Champions 2024. Team Heretics will face off against DRX in the lower bracket, deciding which team will make it to the top four of the tournament.
