Each year, VALORANT hosts two VALORANT Masters events. In these events, teams from the four regional leagues face off against each other. For many, these tournaments are a major reason for the increasing viewing audience for VALORANT Esports. Many of the VALORANT Masters tournaments are held in countries where no league is taking place. Riot Games is following the same ideology for the VCT 2025 season

This year, we have already seen the VALORANT Masters Bangkok, which is held in Thailand. The upcoming VALORANT Champions 2025 event is slated to take place in Paris, France. In the forthcoming Masters Toronto tournament, the top 3 teams from each of the four regional VCT leagues will participate. Below is a list of all qualified teams:

  • Gen.G Esports
  • MIBR
  • Bilibili Gaming
  • Team Liquid
  • Sentinels
  • Wolves Esports
  • Team Heretics
  • Paper Rex
  • G2 Esports
  • Xi Lai Gaming
  • FNATIC
  • RRQ

The teams that won their respective VCT League’s Stage One event will receive a bye to the playoffs stage. The rest of the teams will play in the Swiss Stage. Below is the list of the upcoming fixtures during the first round of the Swiss Stage:

  • Gen.G Esports vs MIBR
  • Bilibili Gaming vs Team Liquid
  • Sentinels vs Wolves Esports
  • Team Heretics vs Paper Rex

Each match will be a best-of-3 series. Teams that win two matches before losing two will qualify for the playoffs. The Swiss stage of VALORANT Masters Toronto is scheduled to take place between June 7 and 11.

Interesting Match Ups To Watch Out For

This might be one of the few times within a VALORANT event that multiple first-time match-ups will occur. In Switzerland, other than the fixture between PRX and Team Heretic, the rest of the teams will face each other for the first time at the event.

One of the most interesting matches to watch is Gen G vs MIBR. Within this, we will get to see Aspas take one on t3xture. Each of the players has won regional and international VALORANT tournaments within VCT. It will be a faceoff between what many consider two of the best duelists in the world.

The other match to watch out for is Team Heretics vs Paper Rex. Both of these teams have one thing in common. Both have reached the grand finals of a VALORANT Champions event but failed to win the trophy. Paper Rex during VALORANT Champions in 2023 and Team Heretics in VALORANT Champions 2024. The last time these two teams faced off was during the VALORANT Masters Madrid in 2024. That was during the second round of the Swiss Stage.

That match was quite a close affair, and the series ended with a score of 2-1 in favour of Paper Rex. Since that matchup, Team Heretics has added the Turkish star Wo0t. In the case of Paper Rex, we saw the return of Jinggg and the addition of PatMan to their roster. It will be interesting to note which team will come out on top and secure their spot in the playoffs.
