Black Ops 7 Overclock System: How To Overclock & All Upgrades
The Black Ops 7 Overclock system is probably one of the game’s most interesting and exciting new additions. They are a way to load up your equipment with an extra buff. Your tacticals, lethals, field upgrades, and even those fun scorestreaks all have two versions of Overclock, and you can choose one. Overclocking is achieved just by using that item multiple times during a match.
In this Black Ops 7 Overclock guide, we’ll explain how Overclock works, what all items can be Overclocked, and show you the complete list of confirmed Overclock upgrades we know of so far.

How Does The Black Ops 7 Overclock System Work?
You unlock Overclocks by simply using the gear successfully, multiple times in matches. Every item has two versions of these upgrades, and you can explicitly pick one when you’re customizing your loadout. Your in-game HUD will be updated when an Overclock has been reached.
This mechanic rewards active use in real time and gives far more depth to otherwise one-and-done items with the same base use. A lot of Call of Duty players have wanted these systems (which haven’t changed much since inception) to innovate and reiterate with brand new mechanics, so this is a welcome addition. Seasonal updates will also update these Overclock tiers.
What Can Be Overclocked In Black Ops 7?
The new BO7 Overclock mechanic applies to four main categories: tacticals, lethals, field upgrades, and scorestreaks, with the same intention of making them beefier as the game progresses.
No Overclocked perks or weapons yet, but perhaps in the next installment? An Overclock perks BO7 update could be fun. For now, focus your energy on gadgets and scorestreaks, since that’s where Treyarch clearly wants the experimentation to start with.
All Tactical Equipment Overclocks

Here’s every confirmed tactical and its two Overclock abilities. If you’ve ever cursed at an enemy flashbang or stun grenade, well, now they get nastier.
Tactical Item | First Overclock | Second Overclock |
---|---|---|
Stun Grenade | Increased stun duration | Slows enemy move speed when stunned |
EMP Grenade | Increased disruption radius | Cook for extra EMP bursts |
Flashbang | Wider full flash angle makes your flash harder to counter | Adds ability to cook for additional detonations |
Stim Shot | Adds ability to remove player debuffs | Adds a move speed boost |
Pinpoint Grenade | AI chip increases grenade lifetime and detection radius | Tagged enemies appear on allied minimaps |
Psych Grenade | Increases the duration that enemies are affected | Gas cloud deals damage over time |
This is how Overclock works in BO7 for Tacticals. Additional tacticals include Hunter Bot, Smoke, and Decoy Grenade, but their Overclocks haven’t been revealed yet.
All Lethal Equipment Overclocks

Lethals are already about destruction, and Overclocks just make them ferocious. Here’s the lineup confirmed in the beta:
Lethal Item | First Overclock | Second Overclock |
---|---|---|
Frag Grenade | High density explosive material improves lethality | Increased throw distance, arc indicator while cooking |
Sticky Grenade | High density explosive material improves lethality | Adds ability to cook the fuse |
Cluster Grenade | Adds ability to cook the fuse | Additional mini grenade |
Combat Axe | Faster raise speed | Throw farther and faster |
Point Turret | Increases turret’s rate of fire | Sensors allow turret to deploy on walls/ceilings |
Needle Drone | High density explosive material improves lethality | Adds ability to boost dart while flying in manual mode |
Extra lethals like C4 and Molotov will also be available, but their Overclocks haven’t been revealed yet. An Overclocked Molotov sounds like a nightmare to play against. A true example of Black Ops 7 Overclocking making these items much more fun.
All Field Upgrade Overclocks

This category is pretty good, too. Field upgrades recharge over time, so their Overclocks add further longevity or firepower.
Field Upgrade | First Overclock | Second Overclock |
---|---|---|
Assault Pack | Faster charge time | Additional score on eliminations |
Drone Pod | Drones launch much faster | Leaves minimap icon at detonation point |
Trophy System | Faster charge time | +2 explosive charge ammo |
Active Camo | Gunfire reveals you temporarily instead of ending ability | Increased duration + faster charge |
Echo Unit | Hologram flashes, stunning nearby enemies | Faster charge time |
Squad Link | Expands coverage | Increases allies’ recharge speed and earned score |
There are also unrevealed ones like the Scrambler, Fear Trap, Black Hat, and Mute Field. If you’re experimenting with Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Overclock abilities, these are the field upgrades to look out for.
All Scorestreak Overclocks
Lastly, Scorestreaks are the crown jewels of multiplayer. With Overclocks, they become even more fun and dangerous.
Scorestreak | First Overclock | Second Overclock |
---|---|---|
Scout Pulse | Lower score cost | Radar ping shows directional arrows |
RC-XD | Increased resistance to enemy gunfire | Shows target indicators on occluded enemies |
UAV | Counters first lock-on with flare, bullet resistance | Lower score cost |
Skewer | Targets higher priority enemies | Increased velocity |
Care Package | Re-roll drop one time | Lower score cost |
Counter UAV | Flare counter + resistance | Lower score cost |
LGM | Extra projectiles | Marks a second target zone, reduced payload per zone |
Napalm Strike | Reveals enemies longer, shows direction | Flames burn longer |
Sentry Turret | Increased turret rotation | Remote control |
Hellstorm | Additional cluster missile | Lock onto Scorestreaks |
Hand Cannon | More ammo | Dual Hand Cannons |
Gravemaker | Larger magazine | Reduced charge time |
D.A.W.G. | Adds Sentry Mode with supply pack + Trophy | Longer active duration |
Interceptors | Deploy without detected threats | Lower score cost |
Watchdog Helo | Improved durability | Guard area mode |
HKDs | Improved durability | Deploy additional drop pods |
Rhino | Reveals enemy locations, stronger radar | Extended runtime |
VTOL Warship | Boost to dodge lock-ons | Increased durability |
HARP | Deploys flares | Lower score cost |
EMP Systems | Lower score cost | Blocks enemy streaks/fields for longer |
Legion | Targets hostile streaks/upgrades | More drone clusters for coverage |
