How Does The Black Ops 7 Prestige System Work?
The Prestige system reintroduces a more rewarding leveling loop across every mode. You earn XP wherever you play, irrespective of whether it’s Multiplayer, Zombies, Campaign, or even Warzone (once Season 1 launches).
Players start at Military Level 1 and progress to Level 55, unlocking new gear, including weapons, Perks, Scorestreaks, equipment, and Operators along the way. Once you hit Level 55, you can enter Prestige whenever you want—just like older CoD games.
Each Prestige comes with new milestones, rewards, and a fresh insignia to show your progress. However, unlike the old seasonal systems, the Black Ops 7 Prestige levels stay permanent, so you keep what you earn instead of resetting every season.
Does Classic Prestige Return In Black Ops 7?
Yes, thankfully. The Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Prestige system brings back the traditional Prestige setup that long-time players loved. After hitting Military Level 55, you can enter Classic Prestige for ten tiers of progression. Each of these gives you unique rewards like Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, and more.
The only catch is that Prestiging in Black Ops 7 resets your level and forces you to re-unlock everything tied to progression. In return, though, you receive a permanent unlock token and a fresh profile icon—a clear nod to the classic systems from Black Ops 2 and 3.
Compared to the newer Modern Warfare game’s capped seasonal leveling, the Black Ops 7 Prestige system is looking to go back to being the older system that veteran players loved, and one that rewards dedication over playtime.

How Does Weapon Prestige Work In Black Ops 7?
Weapon Prestige is back for the first time since Black Ops 4, and it’s one of the best parts of the new Black Ops 7 Prestige system. Once you max out a weapon’s level, you can choose to “Prestige” it, which resets its attachments and levels while unlocking new rewards for it.
The system also lets you permanently unlock attachments you like, so you don’t have to level up all the way just to get them again. Each gun has two Weapon Prestige tiers, and hitting both eventually unlocks Weapon Prestige Mastery in Black Ops 7.
Across these 250 extra levels, you’ll earn exclusive attachments, weapon charms, and universal camos. Prestiged weapons also show a small icon in Killcams, a detail that flexes your grind and skills to others in the lobby. It’s a system that breathes more life into your favorite gun, especially if you enjoy gunsmith builds or chasing mastery ranks.

Are There Progression Rewards & Challenges In Black Ops 7?
Yes, there are. The Black Ops 7 progression system packs an insane amount of rewards and challenges that will keep players busy for months. Completing Prestige levels earns Calling Cards, XP boosts, cosmetics, and even new loadout gear.
There are also Calling Card Challenges divided into Career, Hardened, and Prestige categories. Each one unlocks new animated cards, and finishing every challenge gives you the “Multiplayer 100 Percenter” title, which is a badge of dedication.
Black Ops 7 Prestige Challenges
Daily, Weekly, and Mastery Challenges return in Black Ops 7, offering universal camos and exclusive Operator gear. Weekly objectives will unlock new loadout content like weapons, attachments, and Scorestreaks, while Mastery tasks deliver rare cosmetics reserved for the most dedicated players.

How To Unlock Weapon Camo In Black Ops 7
Weapon Camos have always been a huge part of the grind—and the Black Ops 7 Prestige system gives players even more ways than ever to unlock them. Every weapon now features multiple camo tiers (Military, Special, and Mastery), making progression both structured and rewarding.
Unlike previous titles, such as Black Ops 6 or Modern Warfare 2 and 3, this is a more unified system. Camos can be unlocked across every mode, including Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone (once Season 1 begins). In total, there are 16 camos per weapon: nine Military, three Special, and four Mastery Camos.
Camo Requirements & Challenges
Treyarch also reduced headshot requirements for Military Camos, with headshots capped at 80 per weapon. Most weapons require headshots, though Shotguns need Point-Blank Kills, and Sniper Rifles need One-Shot Kills. You’ll unlock the first camo after five headshots, with new tiers opening every 10 thereafter.
That is more forgiving than many of the challenges from the recent Modern Warfare games, where you needed much higher raw numbers. Here’s a quick breakdown of camo unlock categories:
- Military Camos: Headshots, Point-Blank Kills, or One-Shot Kills
- Special Camos: Unique weapon-based challenges
- Mastery Camos: The ultimate grind, awarded after completing all previous tiers

FAQs
What happens when you Prestige in Black Ops 7?
Prestiging in Black Ops 7 resets your level and unlocks, but grants new rewards like icons, tokens, and cosmetics. This keeps progression fresh even after maxing out.
Do you lose guns if you Prestige in Black Ops 7?
Yes, you will be reset to Level 1 and will have to unlock those weapons again as you level up. You do get a permanent unlock token if you wish to keep your favorite gun unlocked.
How many times can you Prestige in Black Ops 7?
The Black Ops 7 Prestige system includes ten Prestige levels before reaching Prestige Master, where players can continue leveling up to 1,000 for extra rewards and mastery.
Should I Prestige while camo grinding?
Yes, it’s perfectly fine to Prestige while camo grinding. The Black Ops 7 Prestige progression doesn’t reset your camo or weapon progress, so you can keep grinding toward Mastery Camos without losing anything.
Why won't CoD let me Prestige?
If you can’t Prestige in Black Ops 7, you probably haven’t reached Military Level 55 yet. The Prestige system only unlocks the option after hitting that first level cap.
