Fortnite Chapter 7 Map: All Changes & New POIs

Fortnite Chapter 7 has officially begun, and one of the most significant changes from Chapter 6 and The Simpsons mini-season is the map. The battle royale map has had a complete overhaul and redesign, along with gameplay changes.

In this guide, we’re going to dive into all the significant changes made to the Fortnite Chapter 7 map, including the POIs and the real-life inspirations for each area.

The Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 map continues the theme of being based on real-life countries and areas. The Chapter 6 map was heavily inspired by Japan, while Chapter 5 had a Southern Europe/ Mediterranean European vibe. With the Fortnite Chapter 7 new map, the inspiration moves to North America.

The map is based on the West Coast, with the major inspirations being California, Las Vegas, and Hollywood. The map has three major biomes: Beaches, Deserts, and Forests. There are a few sporadic alternative biomes, such as a small snowy mountain area, but the majority of the biomes can be placed into these three biome categories.

There are 13 new POIs on the map that can be found within one of these West Coast-inspired areas. One of the major changes to the map is the way that players access it. The battle bus is no more (for now) after being obliterated, so players surf on a tidal wave to make their way to the island. Once they are close enough, they will be launched into the air where they can activate their gliders.

Best Landing Spots in Fortnite Chapter 7

The best landing spots on the Fortnite Chapter 7 map are a matter of personal preferences and opinions. However, certain areas are better depending on your initial goals.

If you’re looking to start the game quietly and avoid large firefights, Latte Landing or Tiptop Terrace are excellent choices. If you want to jump straight into the action, opt for a central location with plenty of loot, such as Battlewood Boulevard or Wonkeeland.

Best Landing Spots for Loot in Fortnite Chapter 7

It’s always important to know where you can arm yourself and grab some shields as quickly as possible when jumping into a game. Some of the best spots that offer top-tier loot on the new map include Classified Canyon and Battlefield Boulevard.

Fortnite Map Changes From Chapter 6 to Chapter 7

As mentioned, the geographical setting changes significantly with each Fortnite Chapter. Chapter 6 had a mythical East Asian theme, with inspiration drawn mostly from Japan. The biomes were very different in the Chapter 6 map, with a focus on snowy mountains and industrial areas as well as cherry blossom groves and futuristic landing spots.

Rotation Paths and Mobility Options

There are a variety of new traversal mechanics in Fortnite Chapter 7, including the aforementioned tidal wave surfing method of dropping into the game (though the battle bus quests suggest that the battle bus will be making a return soon).

As well as the tidal wave, players can also navigate the map via the Wingsuit. The Wingsuit is an Epic item that allows players to boost vertically into the air and glide. They can be very helpful when you’re losing a one-on-one gun fight, but be sure to keep an eye on the cooldown. Another new traversal method is Hot Air Balloons. They aren’t particularly fast, but they can be useful for implementing a high-ground strategy, especially for snipers.

Vehicles are still present in Fortnite Chapter 7, but some reboot vans are now also available to drive. Not only can the vans make for a great getaway, but if you’re playing Duos, then you (or your teammate) can revive yourself by climbing into the back of the van. This new feature makes for a transportation method that also allows for safer reviving.

Grindable rails at Wonkeeland, ATKs at Fore Fields, and the tunnel system at Innoloop Labs also offer different ways to get around the Fortnite Chapter 7 map, though they aren’t entirely new, as they have been implemented in the game before.

Best Early-Game Rotations

There are a few different strategies that can be used immediately upon landing to make the most out of a game, but it depends on what kind of playstyle you are accustomed to.

If you are into aggressive play, a useful rotation is to drop into a hot spot POI, grab as much loot as you can, and then disengage to smaller areas nearby. You can then focus on pushing inwards as the game progresses, picking off enemies you come across on the way.

Another option is to rush the bosses in the game, which is the most effective strategy for players whose priority is to secure the most powerful weapons immediately. The three bosses in the battle royale map in Fortnite Chapter 7 are Human Bill, Brutus, and Hush, and they have multiple possible spawn locations. Some of the most common spawn areas are:

  • Around Wonkeeland
  • Classified Canyon
  • Painted Palms
  • Ripped Tides

They can be found by following the skull and crown icon on the map, which you will be able to spot once you get close enough. Be aware that this will require mobility, speed, and precision, as plenty of other players will also be trying to get their hands on those Mythic weapons.

There are a few different strategies to implement when it comes to securing a Mythic weapon early on in the game. Whether you go for a hyper-aggressive method or a stealth-based sneak attack, a successful push for the bosses can lead to an early-game Mythic weapon take, offering a huge advantage.

Late-Game Rotation Strategy

The combination of desert flats, dense forests, urban zones, and open beaches changes late-game rotation strategies in comparison to the previous Fortnite chapter. The new traversal methods – especially the Hot Air Balloon system and the Wingsuit item – can also be a game changer.

Depending on which biome the final storm circles are located in, the most effective strategy will change. For instance, if the game is concluding in Tiptop Terrace, make your way to one of the high points in the cabins close to the trees and hold your position for as long as you can.
