New League of Legends Arena Maps

Each League of Legends Map in Arena resonates with a region of the League of Legends world. Let’s go over each and every one of them.

Ancestral Woods

Ancestral Woods is based on the beautiful world of Ionia. There isn’t much to this map in terms of its complexity. Both teams start on either side of the map and will fight around the Health Plants in the middle.

Champions with a lot of mobility and can gap close easily will have a great time on this map. An example is Zac; he will be able to jump in and collect the Health Plant before you have a chance to fight for it. Most of the fighting on Ancestral Woods occurs around the Health Plant in the middle of the map. This is a hotly contested zone, and the round is often over fairly quickly as the Health Plant is really the only major objective to be taken on this map.

Frostbite Thicket

Frostbite Thicket has seen some adjustments made to it. The main being the new portals that are located on the sides of the map. Instead of waiting for a Blast Plant to spawn, players can now use the teleporter to move quickly to the other side of the map. More often than not, players will look to do battle at the Health Plant located in the middle-right portion of the map. Stay with your duo always; there are many ways to maneuver around this map, so stay frosty.

Champions with good CC and good movement will do you well on this map. It would be best if you had a duo that has a mix: one carry that can get around the map and pick up as many Health Plants as possible, and one that is going to be a tank that can stop the enemies from getting onto your carry.

Koi Pond

Koi Pond is one of the more divisive maps added to League of Legends Arena mode. To the point, a thread has been made on Reddit, hoping the map will soon be removed in Arena. The key to this map is to stay as close to each other as possible because the giant flower can throw you from one side of the pond to the next without warning, so it is best to have your buddy next to you.

Champions that have range will benefit from this map greatly. On the other hand, Melee will have a terrible time and wish for it to be the next round. That is because there is little room to fight in, so having abilities that can go a long distance will be great on Koi Pond.

Magma Chamber

Magma Chamber is one of the more uniquely designed maps in League of Legends Arena. It encourages champions who wish not only to fight but also to move around the map quickly. You will likely face off against a team that also can quickly secure their Health Plant, meanning you need a good damage dealer to burst through the shields rapidly. Like in Frostbite Thicket, you have teleporters to use if you run into trouble.

Desert Oasis

Like Koi Pond, Desert Oasis has three sections for the players to move around. Though far less disliked than the Pond. Players will often secure their own Health Plant before moving to the bigger section on the map. Hard CC works wonders on this map, but also champions like Kayn, who can walk between all three sections.

The extra movement comes in hand later in the game as the circle starts to close in. The added movement can help you secure Health Plants outside the zone before quickly popping back in.
