Who Is Angela In Marvel Rivals?
Angela is among the more unique characters in Marvel Rivals, being the first Vanguard who can fly. Her role is a mix between a Vanguard and a Duelist, much like Mr. Fantastic. She can disrupt an enemy’s offense and help allies by giving them bonus health when she creates a Divine Judgment zone with her abilities.
Despite her lower HP for a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals Season 4, Angela is a decent choice as an aggressive frontliner. This is because she can also disrupt backlines and target the enemy team’s healers (Strategists). Here’s a quick look at her stats:
- Health: 450 Base HP*
- Movement: Angela can fly, dash, and reposition quickly. Flight is central to her kit.
- Role: Aggressive Vanguard/Disruptor.
- Official Difficulty Rating: 4 out of 5. Angela is not a beginner-friendly character, primarily because her combos are hard to execute.
Note: Angela gets a bonus 100 HP in Marvel Rivals Season 4, bringing her max health to 550.

All Angela’s Abilities In Marvel Rivals
Angela’s ability kit is built around flight, crowd control, two weapon stances, and team utility. Her strengths are mobility (fast speed when flying) and disruption (getting behind enemy lines pretty easily on most maps).
However, her ability to deploy a shield for defense and create a Divine Judgment zone that gives allies bonus health is also a huge bonus. The only catch is her lower HP (for a Vanguard) and melee-only attacks. Spear of Ichors’ primary attack also needs to be fully charged to deal decent damage.
This table explains all of Angela’s abilities in Marvel Rivals:
Ability Name | Description |
---|---|
Spear of Ichors | Lunge forward with your spear, dealing damage that increases with Attack Charge. At full charge, Spear of Ichors can deal more damage and launch enemies. |
Axes of Ichors | Alternate powerful strikes forward with twin axes, dealing increased damage as Attack Charge grows. The fourth strike propels you forward in a swift dash. |
Heaven’s Retribution (Ultimate) | Wrap your spear in ribbons and hurl it with force. Upon impact, the ribbons bind nearby enemies. Angela can leap to the spear’s location, damaging surrounding enemies and creating a Divine Judgment Zone. |
Assassin’s Charge | Enter an accelerated dash state, becoming immune to knock-back and launch-up. Enemies struck head-on are carried through the air for a short distance. |
Divine Judgment | Dive downward, switch to twin axes, and infuse the ground with Ichors to create a Divine Judgment Zone upon impact. Within the zone, gain enhanced Speed and attacks grant Bonus Health to self and nearby allies. |
Wingblade Ascent | Take to the skies, switching back to Spear of Ichors. |
Shielded Stance | Transform Ichors into a shield, gaining Attack Charge when absorbing damage. |
Seraphic Soar | Glide freely through the air. Continuous flying builds Attack Charge. |
Celestial Command (Team-Up Ability) | Angela shares fragments of her Ichors with Thor, empowering him to hurl a Thunder Spear that restores Thorforce for each enemy struck. Afterward, Thor can leap to the spear’s explosion point, dealing a second wave of damage to all enemies within range. |

How To Play Angela In Marvel Rivals
Best Ability Combos
The best Angela combos in Marvel Rivals usually start with building Attack Charge before committing to a fight. Keep flying around to build up a full charge, since they do much more damage and can also launch enemies that are on the ground.
If the enemy is isolated on the ground, use Divine Judgment to dive down onto them. Then quickly switch into axes and use the melee combo to finish. A good strategy is: fly and build charge → Assassin’s Charge spear knock-up → Divine Judgment to follow with axes combo after landing.
Assassin’s Charge is a great isolator skill for removing enemy players from a location. Use it to pull out healers or supports, then hit them with your primary attack near the end of the charge for extra damage. Also, the charge is a great way to get players who are on the edge of certain maps and eliminate them.
Stance Switching and Mobility
It’s not a bad idea to stay airborne most of the time with Angela, as long as you can remain out of the enemy’s sight. Flight keeps you unpredictable and helps refill Attack Charge, so you’ll always have it ready to go when needed. But don’t get greedy, as flying too low makes you an easy target for hitscan enemies.
The general rule of thumb is to fly in on enemy backlines (especially targeting healers), disrupt them with some damage, then fly out after you cause chaos—particularly if you can’t get a kill. Still, don’t risk it, as it’s always better to circle back around after healing up.
Stance switching has a short cooldown, allowing you to confuse enemies and stay unpredictable using the Spear and Axes. Always raise your shields when closing in on aerial or grounded duelists to absorb the initial damage. With its low cooldown, the shield can be used liberally for defense, whether you’re flying or grounded.
Ultimate Ability and Teamplay
Heaven’s Retribution is a great teamwork ultimate, but it’s not quite as strong as other ultimates on its own. Much like Angela’s entire kit in Marvel Rivals, it’s mostly focused on disruption and creating inconveniences for the enemy team.
That said, try to catch at least two enemies when using it, and make sure your teammates are around to make use of it as well. Aim to bind healers so that the entire enemy team stays vulnerable, and this is great for a dive composition as well.
After tethering enemies with your ultimate, follow up with Divine Judgment to deal more damage and dive down. Use your axes to land a few extra hits for added damage, then leap to the spear again to create a Divine Judgment zone near the end of this combo for max damage.
How To Counter Angela In Marvel Rivals
Even though Angela is strong, she has many clear weaknesses, especially since she’s a melee-only character. These are the best Angela counters in Marvel Rivals.
Hitscan Heroes And Ground Control
Heroes like Winter Soldier, Punisher, and Hela are great at punishing Angela while she’s flying. Hitscan limits her vertical advantage and forces her to play more consciously. Basically, any character that’s good against other aerial ones would be good here (including Angela herself)!
Take It to the Skies
If a grounded character isn’t your thing, then take the fight to her. Iron Man and Ultron are the best at contesting Angela in the sky, with Storm and Human Torch trailing closely behind. Luna Snow and Invisible Woman can also stop her Charge Attack with their freeze and push abilities, respectively.
Force Her to Stay Down
Abilities that ground Angela or restrict her movement are highly effective in Marvel Rivals. The Thing’s Yancy Street Charge creates an Earthbound effect, which prevents Angela from flying away. Beyond that, Namor’s squids can target her much better when she’s flying in the open.
Scarlet Witch also works great against her on certain Marvel Rivals maps, which makes it harder for Angela to be as agile with restricted vertical space.

Best Team Composition For Angela In Marvel Rivals
In Season 4 of Marvel Rivals, Angela’s only team-up empowers Thor with a Thunder Spear that restores his Thorforce and lets him leap to its impact point. This makes Angela perfect for initiating fights while Thor closes the gap. Even as dual Vanguards, the pair can deal impressive damage together.
Beyond that, combining Angela’s ult to bind enemies with Thor’s ultimate for pure damage makes for a great combo. In general, you should try pairing Angela with ultimates that work best and are maximized on grouped or bound enemies.
Think Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Moon Knight, Magneto, or Doctor Strange. Healers that keep her alive after deep dives are also super helpful, like Luna Snow (long-range healing), Ultron (healing drone), or Invisible Woman (healing shield).
