The entire premise of PayDay 3 is to allow players to cooperate and coordinate with each other to execute heists in well-thought-out plans, teamwork and coordination. Naturally, to do this, one would need to play with other heisters and, more importantly, their friends. But what if those other players or friends are on a different platform from you? That poses the question, is Payday 3 cross platform?
Payday 3, released in September of 2023, is the third instalment in the Payday franchise. It follows the critically acclaimed Payday 2, which came out in June 2015. The game was released for the new generation of consoles, which includes the Xbox series S and X, PlayStation 5 and PC. It involves teaming up with up to 3 other players and working together to perform heists on various maps in the game.

So to answer the initial question: yes, PayDay 3 has crossplay!
Payday 3 crossplay goes across both consoles in the current generation and PC. That means Xbox, Playstation and PC gamers can all party together and play regardless of the platform, which is similar to other FPS sequels like playing Dying Light 2 crossplay.
To play with your friends on other platforms, you would first need to ensure crossplay is enabled. This is usually prompted when you load the game for the first time. Then you should go to the invite section, search for the player’s Nebula Username and select the one person you want to invite.
Payday 3 crossplay also has cross-progression, which means you can take your progress and achievements from one platform to another.
Although Payday 3 had fans hyped for its release with the current generation of consoles, it could not connect players and run properly due to several performance issues. These issues included bad servers, players disconnecting from sessions, and random stutters. This was similar to the launch of Fallout 76 crossplay, which had similar issues and more.
But players can rest easy because, as of now, the issues at launch have been resolved. Players are having an easier time jumping in with their friends. However, the player count of Payday 3 was hit significantly due to its rocky launch.
