Sea of Thieves Cheats, Hacks, and Tricks

Sea of Thieves was released in 2018, and since then, it has established itself as one of the best open-world pirating adventures of all time. It’s a multiplayer game at heart, which means the door is left well and truly open for malicious operators to wade in and start disrupting the games of other players. In this guide, we’re looking at that concept, checking out whether or not Sea of Thieves cheats exist, and breaking down the hacks, tricks, and glitches in the game.

It’s an unfortunate fact of gaming these days, but it seems that, if a game has a multiplayer platform, it also has cheaters. It’s worse in some games – Call of Duty and Escape From Tarkov are infamous for their intense concentration of cheaters, for example. It may not be something that’s immediately noticeable in Sea of Thieves, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t cheaters lurking beneath the surface.

So, are there any Sea of Thieves cheats, and what are players doing to get their hands on Sea of Thieves hacks?

Can players on different platforms play Sea of Thieves together?

Before we dive into the cheat-focused portion of this guide, let’s take the time to answer a very common question. There are countless people regularly asking, ‘is Sea of Thieves cross-platform‘, and it’s a perfectly valid query. This is a multiplayer-focused game that’s present on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms, so there’s a chance that it’s cross-platform, right?

That’s correct – and it certainly is.

If your friend is playing on Xbox Series S and you’re on PC, you absolutely can connect with one another and explore the open ocean together. This is a game that’s designed to be played in groups, and making it more accessible with crossplay functionality is a decision that likely came all too easily to the developers. It’s worth highlighting at this point that Sea of Thieves is an Xbox-exclusive title, and you won’t find it on any PlayStation or Nintendo platforms.

So, Sea of Thieves is cross-platform, but it’s only functional between the platforms that it actually exists on – Xbox and PC.

Now – onto the Sea of Thieves cheats!

Do Sea of Thieves Cheats Exist?

Sadly, Sea of Thieves cheats and hacks certainly do exist – and we’ve said sadly simply because of how they’re used. While some developers deliberately include cheats and codes in their games for fun or to make the experience easier or more entertaining, Sea of Thieves hacks serve a different purpose entirely. They’re totally unsupported by the developer, to the point where using them would earn you a permanent in-game ban.

They’re malicious, and that’s putting it lightly. They’re exclusively employed by cheaters and hackers who want to ruin the base game and offer up a miserable experience for legitimate players. With Sea of Thieves cheats – and hacks – malicious operators can unlock a range of unfair advantages:

  • ESP hacks, showing them where all the best treasure is
  • Aimbot, which instantly locks their aim onto other players
  • Cannon Prediction, which allows them to see exactly where other players are aiming

There’s nothing encouraging or positive about these Sea of Thieves hacks, and they only serve to better the experience of those using them – in a very bad way. However, while Sea of Thieves is considered to be one of the best games for Xbox Series X|S, it’s on the PC platform where these cheats are seen. Fortunately, there’s almost no way to use Sea of Thieves cheats on Xbox, as it’s impossible to install them and there are no traditional cheat codes that can be used.

It’s an age-old concept – you simply cannot cheat in a multiplayer game, as an instant disadvantage is given to other players. That’s why almost every developer will ban users trying to cheat in their multiplayer-based games.

Is Sea of Thieves Fun Without Cheats?

Let’s be honest, some cheats make single-player adventures more enjoyable. For instance, there’s a wide range of cheats for GTA San Andreas that can completely change the base game and how the world around you behaves, and some of these cheat codes are absolutely hilarious.

However, not every game needs cheats, and multiplayer games especially are typically devoid of them. It’s not a bad thing, as the base game itself – Sea of Thieves – is remarkably enjoyable, boasting millions of engaged players and a vibrant community. It’s being upgraded and expanded all the time by Rare, the game’s developer, and it has the backing of Xbox Game Studios, meaning there’s a resilient infrastructure there that’ll likely be supported for years to come.

With a unique, gorgeous art style, a massive open-world environment, customisation options, and crossover events with the likes of Disney, there’s plenty to see and do in Sea of Thieves. It’s certainly not a game that even needs cheats, as the exploration, treasure hunting, and ship combat elements are what makes Sea of Thieves so enjoyable, and at times, so intense.

Follow The Rules, Even as a Pirate

We’ll never advocate for the use of hacks on multiplayer gaming platforms like Sea of Thieves. That’s why we’ve not shared any links in this guide, despite openly describing the Sea of Thieves cheats that are available online. It’s a practice that simply ruins the experiences of other players, and if it were to get bad enough, it essentially throws the entire ecosystem of the game into jeopardy, as the legitimate players ultimately start to lose interest in an unsafe product.

So, while Sea of Thieves hacks do exist, we’ll advise that you never even look at how you can use them. There’s nothing good to come of it. Instead, we’ll advise that you dive headlong into the game with friends and have a great time fighting desperately to survive on the open seas. There are some exploits that exist in the game too, such as duplication glitches and XP farming exploits, but we’ll not detail those, as they too are geared at offering an advantage to one particular player.
