If you’ve been sailing the high seas in Microsoft’s latest swashbuckling adventure, you’re often beholden to the Sea of Thieves server status.
More dreaded than any kraken, a server outage can leave you stranded just before a planned session, leaving some to wonder, is Sea of Thieves dead? When lag spikes or login issues occur without warning, it’s often due to the servers being down.
During big updates, server queue times can be long, but in your average day you’d expect to be able to get in with ease.

In addition to the support account letting people know online, the game tends to let you know if an update is coming. That means that an intended down time will be up as a banner on the home screen of the game, as well as on official channels.
For unexpected outages, official reddits tend to see users asking the same questions before official word comes out.
