The VALORANT server status will dictate whether you get to go for “one last game” to rank up, or finally call it a night. If you’ve ever tried to log in but only reached the loading screen, a server outage likely occurred. In some cases, you won’t even make it any further than the Riot Client.
Riot’s servers don’t all tend to go down at the same time, so just because a friend of yours is playing League of Legends or 2XKO, VALORANT might still be unavailable.

Sometimes, and we’re not just talking about in the server, this might just be on you. When struggling to connect to VALORANT, first check to see that your game and Riot client are up to date.
Additionally, if the game can open, but you’re not getting past the title screen, it is worth checking for system updates. Updates may have changed your firewall access to Riot Games Vanguard, which is a required program for all Riot Games. If its all systems green-lit, and there’s nothing on your end, it is likely then that it is on Riot’s side.
Unfortunately, you’re unable to change regions in VALORANT. What this mean is, in the event that a server outage is limited to just one region, you can’t just hop regions to check if another server is working. Unless you have a secondary account for a different one, in which case its probably worth trying logging in on that account to see if it’s only your local server that is offline.
Doing a little bit of research online can help you find out if others are also talking about server outages. The official Riot Twitter/X will have updates on any kind of server outages across all Riot games. Generally they communicates when their maintenance periods are, and how long they’ll be for if needed. Generally patches drop quite quickly for VALORANT, and usually schedule for as a new act is getting ready to start.
