1win Series Dota 2 Fall Tournament Format
The 1win Series Dota 2 Fall features a group stage and playoffs, which isn’t out of the ordinary. However, they spiced things up with a unique group stage format, featuring two groups of four teams in a modified GSL format. Every match in group stage is a best-of-one only, except for the best-of-three decider match.
In the Playoffs, they opted for a single-elimination bracket, where matches are best-of-three except for the best-of-five Grand Final.
Participating Teams
Fans watching the 1win Series Dota 2 Fall this week can expect to catch the usual Dota 2 powerhouses in action. These include Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Spirit.
Whereas the other participants, PARIVISION, 1win Team, Nigma Galaxy, Team Secret and Team OG, make up an interesting line-up.
Unexpected appearances
1win Series Dota 2 Fall’s decision to invite Team Secret, OG and Nigma is certainly a blast from the past. These were the staples of Dota 2 scene’s best teams just years ago, but with a new generation of rosters today.
Watching Clement “Puppey” Ivanov lead his new team of young bloods will be interesting, especially since Puppey has a good track record of building the best Dota 2 teams in history.
Meanwhile, we also have Nigma and OG, featuring several noteworthy players themselves. For instance, Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi and Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan in Nigma, while OG has Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon.
Who to root for at 1win Series Dota 2 Fall
Oddly enough, the event did not invite Team Falcons despite their good record in competitive Dota 2 this season. For the uninitiated, Team Falcons has been dominating the Dota 2 pro scene in the last couple of tournaments, including BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 and DreamLeague S24.
As such, this leaves the 1win Series Dota 2 Fall up for grabs by the other prominent teams. If we have to pick one however, it would be between Team Spirit or PARIVISION. Although Spirit is the two-time International Champion, they undergone some Dota 2 roster shuffle after the International 2024 (TI13). Thus, there weren’t much expectations for them to deliver results.
Yet, Spirit placed a decent third place at DreamLeague S24, showcasing their recent performance. Meanwhile, PARIVISION isn’t too shabby either, managing to hold their own and placed fourth at the same event.
Of all these powerhouses, Liquid and Gaimin arguably should have had the best shot at winning. They were the champions and first runner-up of TI13, with minimal roster change too. Yet, their new season debut at DreamLeague S24 proved otherwise.
