After BLAST Bounty Season 1 kicked off 2025 with a rather wacky and novel format, BLAST Open Spring 2025 brings us into more familiar territory. We have two double-elimation Groups, which competitive Counter-Strike fans have become accustomed to over the last few years, then a single-elimination Playoffs bracket. Simple!

BLAST Open Spring 2025’s format is as follows:

Group Stage (March 19th – 24th)

  • Two double-elimination format (GSL) Groups
    • Each group has eight teams
    • All matches are best-of-three
  • The top three teams from each group advance to the Playoffs:
    • Group stage winners advance to the Semifinals
    • Group stage runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds
    • Group stage 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds

Playoffs (March 28th – 30th)

  • Single-Elimination bracket
  • The Quarterfinals & Semifinals are best-of-three
  • The Grand Final is best-of-five

If we’re pre-emptively picking a winner of BLAST Open Spring 2025, it’s impossible to look beyond Team Vitality right now. They stand alone in their level of quality, with the inconsistencies of their rivals laid bare in recent times. Coming hot off the heels of winning ESL Pro League Season 21, Team Vitality will be ready to make a splash in Lisbon.

For an interesting underdog, look no further than Astralis. Their 3rd-place performance at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 is the organization’s best result in years, and offered something to build from. Whether they can capture some momentum and take advantage remains to be seen.
