The PUBG Nations Cup (PNC) is one of most anticipated global esports events happening in 2024. Scheduled to take place from Sept. 6 to 8, it promises to bring forth the best players from 16 countries to compete for the prestigious title. The event will take place at KyungHee Grand Peace Hall in Seoul, South Korea, promising loads of top tier PUBG action that PNC is famous for.

The excitement is at peak this year with host country, South Korea, going in defending champions. The format remains familiar, with teams earning points based on match placements and eliminations. This year’s PNC will feature a diverse mix of teams from around the world.

  • APAC: Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam

Players were for each of these teams were meticulously selected based on their performance in domestic as well as international tournaments like the Esports World Cup 2024, where finals for PUBG are set to take place from August 24 to 25.

History and Past Winners

The PNC’s first edition was hosted back in 2019, but it has a very short history. After the first tournament, the competition returned in 2022 and is now set to host its third edition.

PNC 2019

The PUBG Nations Cup (PNC), the inaugural competition, happened from Aug. 9 to 11, 2019 at the Jangchung Arena in Seoul, South Korea.

Sixteen countries participated in the tournament, with Russia narrowly edging out South Korea to finish in first place. The team departed with $100,000 of the $500,000 prize pool.

After a long pandemic, the PNC returned on June 16 to 19, 2022 for its second edition. This time, the venue for the competition was the True Icon Hall ICONSIAM in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament again featured a $500,000 prize pool, but there was an additional stake of 30 percent from all PNC 2022 Skin sales.

It was the United Kingdom which emerged on top this time with a completely dominant performance.

The PUBG Nations Cup (PNC) 2023, held from September 15-17 in Seoul, with an even bigger prize pool of $710,00012. This third edition of PNC introduced Vikendi as an official competitive map. South Korea took the championship with finesse, followed by the United Kingdom and Vietnam.  South Korean talent seoul took home the MVP title.

The PNC is set to return to Seoul, South Korea in 2023, where the first edition was hosted back in 2019. Four years later, the city is set to crown an international champion again as the 16 teams battle it out from Sept. 15 to 17 for the title.

Last year, the base prize pool of the PNC stood at an impressive $500,000. This year, it’s a lower amount at $300,000. However, the final prize money is set to increase with a percentage of sales from an upcoming in-game bundle that will contribute to the prize pool.

PUBG Nations Cup 2023 – Format & Teams

Just like the past two editions, the PNC 2023 is set to feature 16 countries fighting for the title and a share of the prize pool. This year, though, there are two changes in the countries competing in the tournament.
