RES Regional Champions Tournament Format
The RES Regional Champions features two groups of four teams in a modified GSL format, where all matches are best-of-three. The top two seeds from each group advance to Playoffs, while the remaining teams are eliminated.
In the Playoffs, the four teams play semi-finals and eventually the grand finals in a single-elimination bracket. All matches, including the grand finals are only best-of-three.
Participating Teams at RES Regional Champions
It was a pleasant surprise when RES Regional Champions announced the invited teams, which included PARIVISION, Team OG and Level UP. Particularly, PARIVISION (formerly Cloud9) is a promising candidate since their participation at the International 2024 (TI13).
The remaining five teams qualified via the RES Leaderboard, comprising of three regional leaderboards across Europe, LATAM and Southeast Asia. Teams across these three regions have been participating in the RES Regional Series to earn RES points. It’s a similar format as the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) Leaderboard, but at a smaller scale.

Nevertheless, this leaderboard proved to be a viable format as it did qualify several notable teams, such as AVULUS, Alliance (formerly Dandelions), Team Waska, Infinity, and Team 123.
Fan Favorites at RES Regional Champions
The two favorites that stood out among these participants are certainly PARIVISION and AVULUS. PARIVISION, being the only TI13 participant at RES Regional Champions, makes them a notable rival. Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko leads this new team of young blood, which many fans believed to be the seasoned player’s second wind in his career.
As such, there’s a lot of expectations on PARIVISION to deliver not only in RES Regional Champions, but at the upcoming DreamLeague S24 too.
Another honorable mention is AVULUS, which recently placed seventh at PGL Wallachia S2. Amidst the drama between AVULUS player, Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev, and Team Falcons player, Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf, AVULUS is still a promising team that has decent potential.
Honorable Mentions
Besides the favorites, there’s a good chance that Team OG could deliver a phenomenal performance at RES Regional Champions. This event is OG’s new roster’s first debut, albeit without its key players, Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon and Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, so we won’t get our hopes too high because of it.
Hailing from LATAM region, Infinity is an underrated team in RES Regional Champions. Despite not having too much experience in major tournaments yet, they have proven to be a better rival than Team Waska in many encounters. Team Waska, a team that has competed at PGL Wallachia S2, didn’t stand a chance against Infinity. Hence why we believe Infinity definitely went under everyone’s radar.
Nevertheless, the action is already live at RES Regional Champions, with teams competing in their respective groups.
