Apex Legends Game Modes | What’s in Mixtape?
Ready to switch things up with your Apex Legends game modes? It offers a variety of game modes to keep the action fresh and exciting.
Apex Legends Game Modes
Here’s a quick rundown of the key modes you can dive into.
Battle Royale
The classic mode where squads of three, four (or two in Duos if its ever around again). Drop into a massive map, loot for gear, and fight to be the last team standing. This mode is the heart of Apex Legends and where most of the action happens. This is where you’ll see the majority of Apex Legends player count when you log in.

You can play both Apex Legends ranked, and casual queues for the main mode.
Mixtape

The Mixtape is an Apex game mode rotation, to change things up if you don’t want to play the main mode.
Here’s the current rotation of game modes:
Team Deathmatch

Source | EA
A 6v6 mode that pits squads against each other in smaller, round-based combat. It’s perfect for players who enjoy intense, focused skirmishes without the chaos of a full Battle Royale.
First to 50 points wins the match.
Control
Going all the way up to 9v9, 2 teams fight for control points on the map. Unlike TDM and the main game where you’re pretty much gone for good if you die, you have infinite respawns in this game mode!
Gun Run

Source | EA
This will pit your squad against 3 others as you explore one of Call of Duty’s classic game modes. Something that doesn’t feel out of place from ex-Call of Duty devs. Your 25 weapons change with each kill, going all the way up to a Throwing Knife kill to end the game.
You could argue that queuing up with different queue sizes would also count as other modes, but its still your same 60 person lobbies.
Sometimes we see seasonal Apex Legends events modes, but for now, these are the main ones.
