Stage 5 Week 3 Recap

The Call of Duty League’s fifth Stage’s final round has just concluded. Week 3’s matches have concluded, running July 22 through July 25th. A lot of the games went according to plan without a major upset. However, a few results have been supering over the course of the action.

One match that was a bit of a surprise was the first of the weekend. While New York looked likely to take out Paris, the scale of the win was impressive. New York has had a bit of a bad run in recent weeks, while they still took the win they lost out on a clean sweep only taking the victory 3-2. They then lost 3-0 to Atlanta, but this match was pretty much as expected.

Chicago’s weekend had a few surprises. They predictably took out London Ravens. However, going up against LA Thieves they eventually lost 3-2. This match showed a bit of weakness from Chicago. While they’ve done well this season, they’ve struggled to consistently push themselves into the top tier of the teams in play.

Paris’s match-up against London also had a few twists. London ended up taking home this game. While it is a little late in the Season for this to make too much of a difference for them, London’s improved performance could end up with a nice consolation prize for them in the CDL Stage 5 LAN.

We managed to predict 8 out of 10 games correctly, although the scores were not as predicted. Bar the two upsets, our pick’em last week was not bad.

CDL Stage 5 LAN Major Seeding & Preview

This week’s matches have moved the CDL Stage 5 into its major, so we now have a complete seed for how the LAN event will take place. Dallas and Chicago are coming in the last round in terms of the seed. Toronto, LA Thieves, Atlanta, and Minnesota are all coming in the round behind them.

In the bottom half of the seed, the entire event begins with New York, LA Guerrillas, Seattle, and Paris. The second losers round will then bring in Florida Mutineers and London Royal Ravens.

If you’re looking at Call of Duty betting, then there are a few of these teams which stand out. New York is starting pretty far behind in the bracket. However, if they can manage to push out of this low round they still stand a decent chance. We should expect them to make it through to face at least some of the teams for the winner’s bracket. Further up, Atlanta is definitely one to watch. They’ve been dominating pretty consistently. Atlanta is probably the favorite for this LAN.

Outside of them though, Chicago and Dallas Empire are both formidable. The winner of this last LAN event is entering the finals in a much better position. So, it is definitely a set of matches to watch.

CDL Stage 5 Pick’em

Coming into the last Major, we are seeking to earn at least 36 points. Overall, ATL FaZe are considered the heavy favorites and are our favorites at this event as well. I do expect Subliners to finally pick the pace up and make a good showing. Looking at the bracket, it gives me a Stage 1 vibe once again with Dallas, Toronto and Chicago expected to go deep into the bracket.

In terms of betting, id propose going for outright winners selections as correct scores have been notoriously difficult to predict.
