MOUZ, Spirit, and NAVI run riot in PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Elimination Stage

The Elimination Stage of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 is here, and we’ve already seen a substantial step up in the level of Counter-Strike being played. It’s been an immense day of action, with eight more teams joining the fun on the server.

Like the first day of the Opening Stage, we’ve had a ton of CS being played – 16 games today in total. We’re bringing you the highlights of what has been a great day of competition.

MOUZ dominate the day

Make no mistake about it – MOUZ are looking sharp at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. This young roster have been perennial outsiders over the last few months, and few expected them to come to Denmark in this kind of form.

Wins over ECSTATIC and Eternal Fire secured their place in the 2:0 bracket of the Elimination Stage, and it’s been a fantastic team effort all around. From IGL siuhy, the calls have been amazing, while his four teammates have adequately shared the fragging duties. With only Complexity between MOUZ and a spot in the Playoffs, we expect to see them move on to the Royal Arena comfortably.

Let’s be honest – this was what you really wanted to see, wasn’t it? Spirit superstar donk was back on the server once again, in top form as he helped his team go 2:0 on the first day of play. It just looks too easy for the prodigy, who keeps redefining what a truly great rookie year looks like. Today, it was Cloud9 and Imperial who were the victims, but realistically Spirit would’ve bested anyone in this form.

On the surface, it’ll always be “the donk show,” but you can’t ignore what a well-oiled machine Spirit are right now. This is a team of five stars, all of whom are capable of carrying entire maps by themselves. This is why they the reigning IEM Katowice champions, and why they look set to reach the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Playoffs with ease.

NAVI sweep 2:0

Today really was NAVI‘s day. Both TheMongolZ and G2 fell as NAVI laid down the gauntlet in the Major Elimination Stage. NAVI have been steadily improving every tournament since the addition of w0nderful, and today showed that this has only continued directly into the Major.

Of all the players, we loved jL‘s performances today. He’s suffered from some inconsistency at times, flip-flopping between dominating and disappearing on the server. Against TheMongolZ and G2, he showed why NAVI continues to show faith in his abilities on the server. NAVI will face their biggest test yet tomorrow, with Spirit up next. Even if that proves to be a step too far, NAVI should have more than enough quality to make the Playoffs now.

Favorites Vitality and FaZe flounder

While the teams above have plenty to celebrate, FaZe and Vitality, two of the tournament favorites, both started the day with a loss, putting a serious dent in PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Pick’Ems everywhere. The two teams managed to turn it around to finish the day 1:1, but they need to seriously improve if they’re to actually challenge for the Major trophy.

On FaZe’s side, it’s hard to pinpoint any one single player who needs to improve their performance. But for Vitality, it’s mezii and flameZ who need to step up on day two of the Elimination Stage. This isn’t the Vitality with dupreeh and Magisk any more, so others need to stand up and be counted on the server.
