It’s a perfect end to the season for Team Spirit. By taking down NAVI 2:1, they have become the only team to win two Tier-1 CS2 trophies this season, ensuring they emerge from the first half of 2024 as the year’s big winners so far. After winning the first big event of the season in IEM Katowice 2024, it’s a perfect way to bookend a successful period for Spirit.
It wasn’t entirely plain sailing for Spirit. The first two maps went their way, but a blowout on Mirage meant NAVI had renewed confidence coming into the Nuke fourth. NAVI even put a respectable haul of rounds on the T-side, but once Spirit got going, it became something of a non-contest. It just seemed as though Spirit had NAVI’s number, and in this kind of form, the conclusion was never in doubt.
More donk brilliance

One day, we’ll get bored of waxing lyrical about donk, but today simply isn’t that today. The young rifler shows time and time again why he is the prodigy in the Counter-Strike scene, and now has another trophy to show for it so early in his career. His “hold W” style might not be meta, but he makes it work every time with best-in-class mechanics and godlike game sense. A wonderkid by any definition.
Even on the losing map of Mirage, donk was doing everything to carry Spirit kicking and screaming over the finish line. We’re witnessing history, and we need to stop for a while to appreciate what donk is achieving at the moment. At 17 years old, donk picks up another S-Tier trophy, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2024 has in store for him.
zont1x figures out the stage

We can’t just put this all down to donk, and we want to pay tribute to zont1x. Throughout 2024, the stage has been his biggest enemy. Katowice aside, we’ve often seen the youngster be swallowed up on the big stage, but not here. In London, he had it all figured out. Even with the crowd against him, supporting NAVI every step of the way, zont1x showed no signs of nerves as he put in a huge performance on the server.
If he has figured out how to block out the noise, we’re going to see a remarkable championship-level rifler for years to come. Now, Spirit get to go away and take their mid-year break, and reflect on a fantastic first half of 2024. Another half-year like this would result in a real dominant period for Spirit.
