Dragon Ball FighterZ Tier List – 2025 Tiers, Assists, and Difficulty Tier List

FighterZ has grown to have a huge roster of characters. They aren’t all created equal though, the top characters in the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list are just built better. They’re stronger, have more useful moves, and better match-ups that make them a better pick for your team.

You might get three choices for FighterZ, but there are a lot more characters in the higher end of the meta than just that. The DBFZ tier list in 2025 hasn’t had too much change from the year before. With the game getting out of active updates, there won’t be major changes going forward. Before this year though, we did see major changes happening month to month.

It especially changed up as new DBFZ characters were added. Players tried them, cracked them, figured out strengths and weaknesses. Then we saw the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list mixed up quite a bit. Even with the game leaving active development, players are finding new ways to play. If you want to know who is on top of the meta, or who is an easier character to play, then our tier list for Dragon Ball FighterZ runs you through where all the characters sit in the current meta.

That’s a rough tier list, but it’s worth delving into a bit more detail for why characters sit where, how easy they are to play, and more. Remember, FighterZ has a different internal logic to the fighters though. Just because Goku is supposed to be stronger than Krillin, doesn’t mean he’s necessary more OP in this game! Although, a lot of our highest ranked characters are the strong fusions anyway.

This is why everyone sits where they are in this Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list.

S Tier – Dragon Ball FighterZ Tier List Explained

These are the top-tier characters on the roster. The absolute best one to pick in the current meta. These characters are going to be the ones you’ll see the most at esports tournaments, popping up at events with the very best players. They have kit which provides the most potential for players.

With these characters, you’re seeing the biggest potential for combos and play styles that are more dominant in the meta at this stage of the game.

Android 21 Lab Coat

Dragon ball FighterZ Tier List 2023

Source: Arc System Works

Maybe the best character in the game and the top in the DBFZ tier list 2025. The last of the DLC FighterZ characters has dominated since getting added. They have the best set-ups, fantastic moves, combos, and they wouldn’t rank too low on a FighterZ difficulty tier list either! Not impossible to play, but really strong. A little weaker now in neutral and assist, but still pretty powerful. It’s common for final DLC characters to be the strongest in fighting games, so maybe the Android’s strength was to be expected.

Super Saiyan Blue Vegito

This character is up there with Android 21. They’re one of the strongest even with a fighting style similar to the other super Saiyans in the game, his higher-level moves do insane damage and he has great combo potential. His 5m and kicks are both still crazy attacks and he stays up here in the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list with the recent changes.

Gogeta Super Saiyan 4

Gogeta SSJ4 FighterZ

Gogeta is another fusion character at the top of the game. Like other later DLC characters, a big part of Gogeta’s kit is his unique moves, movement, and how this opens up combos. Not impossible to master either, he’s playable at a lot of different levels. He’s one of the characters you can take the furthest in the game too.

Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta

The other form of Gogeta still has great moves and attacks and is worth keeping in the highest section of the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list. Out of the two Gogetas, his ceiling isn’t quite as high, but he’s still a strong character. Since you have room for three, he still regularly shows up in OP character selections.

Android 21

Android 21 is a little less powerful than the lab coat variety, which hasn’t changed for a DBFZ tier list in 2025. However, there is still a lot of viability and makes the top level. She has great range on some moves and some general advantages once you get into a combo. Overshadowed by the newest addition, but they’re still a strong pick. There’s been fantastic use of them in tournaments in the past too.

Beerus

FighterZ Patch Notes

Beerus has been buffed lately in more recent FighterZ patch notes which gives him great moves that bring him up to the highest tier of the game. That’s great considering the game won’t really be getting more balancing changes, so Beerus is up to stay at the moment. It’s always nice when a character gets buffed right before changes stop coming in.

A Tier

Dragon Ball FighterZ Tier list

The A Tier is a step below the top of the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list, but these are still pretty effective picks. The characters in this section have decent moves, combos, and potential to take them all the way. You’ll still see them pop up at events like the FighterZ World Tour. They’re some of the best for climbing the Dragon Ball FighterZ ranks too. Some even have the best assists in the game.

They don’t have the same completely OP set of moves and strengths that you’ll see in the S Tier and they might have a few bad matchups, but they’re still worth mastering.

B Tier

Dragon Ball FighterZ Tier list

The B Tier is where things get a bit rougher for the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list. These aren’t bad characters but they do have some clear problems. They have too many bad matchups and clear flaws in their kit that leave you open against high-level players. However, they still have the ability to get things done. They have their strengths. Those in this section of the DB FighterZ tier list take more work to make as effective as possible.

C Tier

Dragon Ball FighterZ Tier list

We’ll cut off the DBFZ tier list for 2023 at C, rather than reducing a couple to D.  there isn’t a huge gap between most of these fighters. These characters aren’t as effective as those higher up in the tier list. they have worse combos, moves that are more easily punished, and bad hitboxes, the problems are more plentiful here. These mid-level characters in the FighterZ tier list can still get good use by some specialist players though.

  • Frieza
  • Yamcha
  • Majin Buu

DBFZ Difficulty Tier List

FighterZ Patch Notes

Source: Arc System Works

That’s a rough tier list for if you’re really trying to master a character, but what about difficulty? A Dragon Ball FighterZ difficulty tier list is a different question entirely. If you’re wondering who the easiest characters to play are, they don’t always line up with the strongest in the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list. However, a lot of the top tier characters are actually fairly easy to play. They are easier to start with but also have a ceiling where you can go up to the very top of the game’s skill list.

This is roughly where the characters sit in terms of difficulty, although this is a bit more subjective.

DBFZ Assist Tier List

Dragon ball FighterZ Tier List 2023

Source: Arc System Works

Each character has assist moves which can be pulled out in game. This in of itself can be a reason to select a character, using their assists at a key time for your main pick of a fighter. Using assists right can be crucial. Top players you’ll see in fighting game esports events always seem to bust out assists at just the right time. You might end up relying on them, but if you’re particularly confident with a couple of high DBFZ tier list 2025 picks then a third character for their assist is pretty viable. These are some of the best characters for assists right now.

  • Android 17
  • Janemba
  • Roshi
  • Krillin
  • Vegito SSJB
  • Hit
  • Bardok
  • Android 21
  • Goku SSJ
  • Broly (DBS)
  • Beerus

There are too many assists between A, B, and C to break down into a full tier list of every move, but each of these characters has a standout. Android 17’s Barrier A assist is particularly useful, in fact, most of these character’s best moves is their A!

FighterZ Tier List at the End of Updates

FighterZ World Tour 2023 Finals - Grand Final match

Source: Bandai Namco

One thing to keep in mind with the Dragon Ball FighterZ tier list is the game is moving out of active development. We got updates like rollback netcode, but Arc is largely moving on. FighterZ remains popular but there isn’t much left to do with the game’s content. Does this mean changes are over?

Not really. Just because we won’t see any major nerfs, buffs, or fixes, it doesn’t mean players won’t find different ways to play. In fighting games in particular, there’s a long history of players keeping grinding after a game has stopped being supported. Managing to find new ways to play existing characters. New tech, new combos, and more. Just look at Smash Bros Melee, with more developments still happening decades after release.

The FighterZ Tier List could change a lot, even without updates. So we’ll have to watch how pro players are performing and see if any major change pops up with the tier list still.
