EVO 2024 might have been our biggest year ever for the event. There are new games, reveals, but classics like the GGS EVO 2024 tournament wowed too. This was one of our most exciting final brackets we’ve seen in an Arc game.Strive might not be the newest game at EVO 2024, but it’s still one of the biggest events. The tournament here overshadowed even big new releases like Mortal Kombat 1. Guilty Gear Strive shows how far games can be pushed, even quite a while into its life.
In EVO 2023, we saw Leffen, a former Smash pro, take the win in Guilty Gear Strive. How did the GGS EVO 2024 event go? These are the highlights and results of the tournament.
Starting the top bracket at GGS EVO 2024, we saw Jack face Nitro in the winners round. In a close match, Nitro secures his path to the winners final 3-2. Jack on the other hand got knocked down to the losers bracket. In the other match, we saw tatuma, the only Japanese player to make it this far win his round before taking the winners final 3-1.
The stage was set for a potential win for tatuma in the GGS EVO 2024 tournament. First though, Nitro faced RedDitto in the losers final but pushed through with a simple 3-0 win.
Last year’s returning Champion Leffen made a good run here too. He didn’t quite make the top 5, but still managed to walk away with some points for the Arc World Tour 2024. He did make it through to the Final Bracket, but on the loser’s round, he only had one shot. Zando put an end to dreams of a back-to-back win, winning 3-2, before having his run stopped by RedDitto.

In the Grand Final, tatuma went up against Nitro. Getting off to a strong start, Nitro decisively won the first section 3-0. Coming up from the losers bracket, he still had to win after a bracket reset though. Dramatically, things came absolutely down to the wire with a 3-2 result in the bracket reset. Nitro is our new GGS EVO 2024 Champion, after a well-deserved climb back and pushing through a tough full reset.
