TempestNYC Wins Slot at AWT in Guilty Gear Strive at CEOTaku
CEOtaku 2023 was a huge event, with big tournaments for all the major fighters. Getting our first big event for MK 1 was fun as was the tense SF 6 event at CEOtaku 2023. Leading the charge of anime fighters at the event though was Guilty Gear Strive. In the Guilty Gear Strive CEOtaku 2023 event, we saw quite a few players competing for a ton of points on the wider Arc World Tour. Not only did players manage to grab extra points, but one secured their spot at the Finals for the end of the year.
TempestNYC Claims Spot at Arc Finals in CEOtaku
TempestNYC secured their spot among the other competitors at the Arc World Tour later this year. How did they get here though? Competition was fierce for Guilty Gear Strive CEOtaku 2023. At the start of the finals bracket, Tempest had made it in through the winners side. That meant he didn’t jump back in until the semifinals, where he easily blew past PepperySplash to win 3-0. This was followed by a winners final up against Cheryo. The player gave TempestNYC a bit of trouble, but he eventually went through 3-1.
In the Grand Finals, he faced USHIMO. USHImo had been knocked down the losers bracket pretty early on after losing to Cheryo. He fought his way back up before facing Cheryo again in the losers’ final, where this time he turned things around and won 3-2. While USHIMO looked like he could go all the way and win from losers, ultimately TempestNYC was the stronger player.
The Grand Final as much closer. We saw Tempest just edge ahead 3-2, denying UMISHO the bracket reset. This performance secured TempestNYC his spot at the end-of-the-year event, a tournament where he’s looking strong out of the early participants.

Guilty Gear Strive CEOtaku 2023 Preview
CEOtaku 2023 is one of the biggest fighting game events, especially for anime fighters. Pretty much all of the best anime fighting games are getting events here but one is particularly worth focusing on, Guilty Gear Strive at CEOtaku 2023.
The GGS event at CEOtaku 2023 is one of the biggest American clashes for the game this year. It’s an Arc World Tour event which means fighters can gain their slots at the end-of-year finale through a strong performance here. Most of the major players are turning up too, including the EVO 2023 GGS champion. Who are the players to watch in Guilty Gear Strive at CEOtaku 2023 though?
Top Players to Watch for Guilty Gears Strive at CEOtaku 2023
These are some of the bigger names and major players worth watching as they journey through the pools and hopefully final bracket of the competition.
1. Leffen

Source: EVO
Leffen has been a stand-out player for Guilty Gear in 2023. The one-time Smash god has turned his attention to other fighters, and proven he’s one of the best of all time. Still one of the best Smash Melee players of all time, his foray into Guilty Gear has been incredible to watch. He won EVO for GGS in 2023, cementing his place as a cross-game power house. Prior to winning EVO, he had a clear ramp-up. He took 2nd at Brussels Challenge 2023 and 3rd at Combo Breaker before that. The big question with Guilty Gear Strive at CEOtaku 2023 is can Leffen maintain this amazing run?
2. Nitro

Source: EOTaku, YouTube
Nitro is another player with great results across loads of the top fighting games, but in GGS he’s in a strong place. The FlyQuest player is coming fresh off a win at Summer Jam 2023. He didn’t fare quite as well at EVO this year for GG, but he’s still one of the top players to watch at CEOtaku.
3. Ushimo

Source: EVO 2022
Ushimo is a Team Rage player with a strong pedigree in Guilty Gear Strive. Just like Leffen, he’s also a Guilty Gear Strive EVO champion. The player took the top prize back in 2022 and he’s continued to clock up good results since. More recently he came in fourth at EVO 2023. While he didn’t go back-to-back, this is still a very impressive result. If he can triumph in Guilty Gear Strive at CEOtaku 2023 then we’ll be set for an interesting finale at Arc World Tour.
Those are some of the top players in Guilty Gear Strive at EVO 2023. This is set to be a huge tournament with multiple EVO winners showing up. Despite being a little older, Guilty Gear is still one of the most exciting titles at events like this, the finals bracket is not one to be missed.
