Between the roster and new mechanics, there’s a lot to look forward to in MK 1. We know quite a bit more about this than most other upcoming fighting games. Across the Mortal Kombat 1 trailers, we’ve got a good idea of the launch Mortal Kombat roster. Leaks have helped to fill that list out too though. These are all of the credible leaks and what we know from Mortal Kombat 1 leaks about what’s coming.

Mortal Kombat 1 Roster Leaks

Probably the most alluring Mortal Kombat leak is the roster. It’s the selection of characters that make or break the game. Ed Boon has been teasing the return of Mortal Kombat 4 characters, which could mean we see some of the best MK fatalities from that game return in a re-vamped form. Thanks to the trailers, we’ve got a decent look at half the launch roster. Mortal Kombat 1 leaks point towards even more coming though.

Characters in Mortal Kombat 1 coming at launch are going to include some of the most iconic in the franchise. A MK 1 leak coming close to release date on Reddit seems to have confirmed the full roster of characters for the new game too. This is a pretty reliable leak too. A player has got their hands on the full Nintendo Switch version of the game and written up what they’ve seen. These are all of the characters that are coming.

Confirmed Mortal Kombat 1 Character List

  • Johnny Cage
  • Jax
  • Kenshi
  • Kitana
  • Keno
  • Kung Lao
  • Liu Kang
  • Mileena
  • Raiden
  • Scorpion
  • Nitara
  • Sub-Zero
  • Ashrah
  • Baraka
  • Geras
  • Havik
  • Li Mei
  • Rain
  • Reptile
  • Smoke
  • Tanya
  • Reiko

This isn’t the full roster, we’ve gotten some Mortal Kombat 1 leaks that show there are 24 fighters available at the very start of the game. A recent Reddit leak confirmed all of these but the last 24th fighter slot. This is likely because you need to play through the game to unlock this final character.

The game should be starting with a roster of 24 characters, slightly down on the 25 at Mortal Kombat 11’s release. According to some leakers, that means there’s only a handful of characters we haven’t had confirmed yet! We nearly know the entire launch batch plus the first round of DLC.

As we’re getting closer to release, NetherRealm studios have confirmed even more fighters coming to the game. Since EVO 2023 wrapped up the tournament series’ MK 11 offerings, we got another launch roster character confirmed for the game. Since the original batch of announcements we know Ashrah is also coming, plus quite a few more that they’ve been announcing week by week.

Pre-Order Exclusive Character

Alongside that base roster, some players will get an extra fighter or two. According to Mortal Kombat 1 leaks, Ermac will be coming as the pre-order bonus. If you grab the game before it fully releases, you’ll be able to get Ermac in the game alongside the base roster! As MK 1 is one of the most anticipated upcoming fighting games, a lot of players will probably pre-order this to grab the extra character too.

Alongside Ermac, Shang Tsung will also be a pre-order bonus. Both of these are older Mortal Kombat characters that are making a comeback with the latest game’s release. It makes sense to throw more classic characters into these pre-order bundles. These are characters who will primarily appeal to the biggest fans of the series overall. Putting them in as a pre-order bonus is a great way to reward loyal MK players. Whereas DLC characters are mainly focusing on more unique picks to appeal to a more general audience.

Mortal Kombat 1 Release Date

According to the information released about the game, it’s coming on September 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This is just basic information though, you don’t need Mortal Kombat leaks to know when the game is coming. Before that we’ve got a Beta on the horizon too.

The Switch edition without a PS4 version is intriguing. While some Switch fighting games are really impressive, it’s much lower-powered hardware. If Mortal Kombat 1 doesn’t fit on the PS4, that Switch version will likely be either a miracle or a cloud version. The other versions of the game are mainly taking advantage of newer hardware which should help with the impressive visuals we’ve seen so far.
