Competitive Fortnite has been an exciting area for the last few years, but it’s largely limited to the Battle Royale side of the game. That is increasingly just a minor part of the game, with the opportunity to play tons of game modes. We’re about to see that reflected in Fortnite esports too. The ESL FaceIt Group is launching a new side of competitive. The new Fortnite ESL tournaments will see new experiences built in a more traditional shooter format.

Using the new Fortnite UEFN tools, FaceIt has created quite a few new experiences that feel closer to more traditional shooter esports. They’re making these available for players to compete on, with the potential to go even further. Looking through the new maps, you’ll likely see game modes you recognize like Capture the Flash. But you’ll be able to play them using the unique Fortnite weapons and gameplay mechanics., and even try them out in a new form of Fortnite esports.

How will the new Fortnite ESL maps work and what are the tournaments coming?

Fortnite ESL Maps Launching

ESL are a group behind esports events for tons of the biggest games. They’ve had involvement with Fortnite esports before too, like Epic’s ran FNCS events. They’re taking advantage of Epic’s recent advances in Creative, allowing players to make any kind of game in Fortnite.

A number of new maps have been made by FaceIt. These are all built around the classic FPS game modes we see in other games. Like Capture the Flag, Hardpoint, and Shrinking Zone. These game modes are some of the most fun and traditional forms, the type of games that made FPS titles the most popular esports.

These game modes in Fortnite esports will let players try out traditional competitive mechanics, but with the guns and other mechanics we’re used to in Fortnite. These maps are available in-game now. However, they’ll also be used for an upcoming series of UEFN tournaments!

UEFN Tournaments

You can jump in now and try out the UEFN maps. It’s the tournaments that are going to be exciting here though. There are going to be weekly cups that pits teams against each other in these new modes. These are some of the teams already signed up for the Fortnite ESL tournaments.

The Fortnite ESL tournament series is an exciting change of pace for the game. The maps will be fun to try out and we’ll have to see if any of the best Fortnite players compete. These game modes will definitely be different to Battle Royale in skills required.
