One of the key items for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 has been added in a recent update. The Fortnite Magneto Powers are essential for this season. They’re a fun Mythic attack, tie in with a Battle Pass skin, and they’re even a counter to the cars that have been terrorizing matches for the last month. How exactly do they work and where can you track them down?

Any fan of X-Men might have a decent idea of what to expect from this item. The Fortnite Magneto Powers utilize the metal-controlling skills of the X-Men villain. However, applying that to Fortnite is a bit trickier than it looks. You can’t hand over the power to control all steel and metal Fortnite builds to enemies holding gloves. Instead, the powers are a bit more strained. The item we do have is a fun weapon and one that has a key place in the current meta.

What Is the Fortnite Magneto Powers?

The Magneto Powers are our superpower Mythic for this season. Kind of like what we’ve seen for past Fortnite crossovers with Marvel. It’s unique though, with special moves to use.

The first part of the powers are the simplest. You pull in metal and chuck it at enemy players! It does a surprising amount of damage. In terms of the game’s lore and explanations, it works by dragging up metal. For actual players, it’s a bit different though.

The Fortnite Magneto Powers’ main fire is a projectile attack that resembles metal, that’s the important bit. It functions similarly to the rock attacks in the Avatar collab last season. However, players float a bit while firing them. This has unlimited ammo, but a cooldown for you to manage.

The alternative fire builds a little shield. Once again, there’s an animation of metal getting pulled in, but you form a shield in front of you to block fire and float a bit. This is a small shield and players just tend to stop firing when it comes up. Be careful though, it only blocks the front and it’s easy to flank if you’re spamming it.

The other function of the Fortnite Magneto Powers is passive. While it’s equipped you get a slight low gravity effect and no fall damage. If you’re carrying the gauntlets, it’s best to have them equipped when rotating to take advantage of this.

Where to Find the Gauntlets

That’s how the Fortnite Magneto Powers work, but how can you track them down? There are two different options. A guaranteed spawn and normal loot. If you’re going for the second, it’s in the standard pool that spawns in chests and other places. Just open up enough containers and you’ll stumble on some. The best landing spots with more chest spawns are better for this.

The other is to head to the Magneto Fortnite NPC. He spawns at Brawler’s Battlefield. You can purchase the gloves from him, but he only has one pair. This had the nice effect of making one of the worst Fortnite landing spots a bit of a hot spot, so be careful if you’re dropping right on him.

The Fortnite Magneto Powers are an interesting addition this season. The rotation effect makes them worth carrying alone, plus the rocks you throw can destroy cars. The shield is a bit of the weaker side, but it’s definitely worth carrying if you want to maximize your chances of winning Fortnite games this season.
