The most recent Fortnite update has some pretty interesting features. Maybe the most fun and unpredictable item is the Fortnite Ride the Lightning Mythic! A new weapon built around the guitars of Metallica. Outside of just being a random tie-in with the latest crossover, it’s much more. It’s a fun new item with crazy mobility that could give you an edge in games.
The guitar is a bit tricky though. Good for rotation, but slightly wacky when it comes to damage. Not to mention the animations you’re getting locked into. Like most Chapter 5 Mythics, it’s a bit complicated to claim too. This is everything you need to know about the Fortnite Ride the Lightning Mythic:

The latest Fortnite update has added a ton of content for the Metallica crossover. It’s the first time our music artist from Fortnite Festival has crossed over into other parts of the game. There’s a decent bit of Metallica stuff happening in Battle Royale too. The whole rift in POI loot island spot has been transformed into a Metallica concert arena.
The new item is a Mythic, so it isn’t the easiest to find everywhere. Sometimes Mythics are limited to 1 per game, this is an item that’s a bit wider available though. You can find it in the normal loot pool, but also at specific locations. Head to some POIs and you’ll see the guitar in-game, on a stand. Interact with it to claim the item. Kind of like the Kinetic blade and other items in the past. It’s a bit rarer though, although there is a guaranteed spawn.

You can claim the rift in POI to get a Ride the Lightning guitar too. The mechanic for changing this has changed though. These are your steps.

4. The Ride the Lightning Mythic pops out along with other loot

That’s how you can get your hands on one. How does the Fortnite Ride the Lightning mythic actually work though? It has a fun feature that sends you flying up in the air. As each note crosses the indicator, you’ll burst around in the air. You can cover a really long distance with this.

The other main use is to attack. Once in the air, you can line your direction up downward. You’ll see an indicator to show where you’ll smash down. Landing deals an AoE effect. It can deal some decent damage but is pretty to aim. Similar to the Wings of Icarus crash down, but a bit fiddlier and harder to pull off.

In terms of mobility, the Fortnite Ride the Lightning guitar is really useful. Its attack does deal really good damage when you land it too. However, the overall item can be tricky. Which makes the quest for the item particularly annoying. It’s going to be a pain for anyone using the Metallica quests to grind levels instead of the best XP maps over this update.

The new Mythic isn’t just here to play around with, it’s central to quite a few quests ongoing at the moment. Some of these will task you with hitting players using the new Mythic item. There isn’t really any easy trick to get this done quicker. You’ll just have to keep trying.
The biggest factor here is just taking every opportunity. To just get the quests done, you’ll likely have an easier time in Team Rumble. Grab a guitar and wait for that endgame where players are all over. Since the game is a bit more reckless since respawns are on, it’s a little easier to get a kill with a difficult item.
Other than the quests being a little tricky, the Fortnite Ride the Lightning Mythic is a really fun addition. It’ll only be here this season so grab it while you can.
