Renegade Raider New Style for OG Fortnite Players Rolling Out Now
Fortnite has loads of skins, but two of the most recognizable are Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper. Two of Fortnite’s earliest skins, and kind of a status symbol in the game. Or at least at one point they were.
They used to be proof you’d been playing since the very earliest days. A bit plainer than modern skins, but proof that you’re a real OG player. Or it is as long as it doesn’t return to the shop, which it has done. For OG Season 1 season, Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper both came back to the item shop! But OGs are getting their own version too. That new style is finally being rolled out too.
These two skins are unique as being Fortnite Season 1 skins. Before the game had a proper battle pass and monetization operated in a different way, having these skins sit in your locker has long been a point of pride for players. As well as these skins being some of the rarest Fortnite skins in the past. However, now it has been back in the item shop all that extra meaning players attach to Renegade Raider has gone. Why is this skin returning such a big deal and when will the OG styles finally arrive?
Fortnite Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault OG Styles Finally Coming

Source: Epic
Months after they returned to the shop and players got promised a new style, it seems the rollout has actually finally started! A few players have begun to receive the OG style for Fortnite Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper. Both of these skins ae getting new styles which go to the players who picked it up in Season 1 of Chapter 1.
The OG styles are apparently coming gradually. Some players will have found the new skins waiting in their locker when they logged in already. Quite a few more will likely get it after the next Fortnite update.
Epic is rolling these out gradually though. So even if you’re eligible it might take a little while to actually get it. It isn’t clear why there’s been such a delay with these skins despite the style being in the files for a while. It’s possible finding out which accounts have the two skins is harder than it looks. After already bringing the skin back early, they definitely don’t want it to end up in the wrong hands by mistake.
If you’ve got the skins from its first release, you should get a new style too. Everyone else will have to be happy with the version they picked up when OG brought them back.
New OG Style
As promised when the skin came back, a new version of Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper has been added to the game! These new edit styles aren’t accessible in the shop and won’t be sold. Instead, it’s a special style for those who had the skin in its original release.

These kinds of special styles have happened for a few skins now. Epic has used them when they have brought back a rare skin after a long absence. One of the first cases was Ghoul Trooper. A skin that fell into a similar area as Renegade Raider, being an old skin but not one that has exclusivity promised. When it came back a slight variation was added for OG players. A similar extra style has come to other items brought back by mistake since too. Even emotes are getting OG styles now.
Essentially meaning that they can sell the skin again, but players still get their exclusive version that shows they’ve been playing for a long time. In the case of Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper, it’s a version with a black and gold color theme. These should be rolling out to players who already had the skin before Chapter 6 brought them back. Although, it did take longer than we’d thought.
How to Get Renegade Raider In Fortnite

Source: Epic
Renegade Raider is back, but not quite in the simplest way. The skin isn’t available just for general purchase, players have to jump through a hoop or two first.
It all goes back to how the item shop used to work, needing players to level up before they had the privilege of spending money! It’s similar here. Renegade Raider, Aerial Assault, and an ungodly-expensive pickaxe, are all in the shop, but locked behind XP barriers.
Players have to earn a set amount of XP in OG before they can purchase it. In the case of Raider, it’s a million. While it is do-able with how long we had until the Fortnite season ends. Players have also discovered gifting the skin from an account with more XP to a different one was a workaround. But everyone in Season 1 of OG could have unlocked Renegade Raider if they want to put the time in.
Renegade Raider Came Back to the Item Shop
With the launch of OG Season 1, we saw two original skins return to the item shop. The first, is Renegade Raider. It’s a skin that’s pretty widely known for being rare. It was first released in Fortnite’s earliest season. However, it hasn’t really been back. It first entered the shop when you had to grind your in-game level to a specific point to get access to skins, and then purchase it with V-Bucks. A bit of a weird system now we’re so used to the Battle Pass.
However, since Renegade so rarely came back, it was one of those skins that proved you’d been here since the beginning. Renegade Raider appeared in the item shop for a while when it was first released, then never again. Now it has come back once though, it could potentially be in regular rotation in the store.
Aerial Assault Trooper
Along with Renegade Raider, Aerial Assault Trooper is another super early Season 1 skin. It’s also recently returned, after showing up in Fortnite leaks. However, like Renegade it hadn’t been back in a very long time until now. Both of these releases will strip away a bit more exclusivity for those who played the game in its first months.
While they hold a lot of status in-game, both Renegade and Aerial Assault are relatively plain. The two skins are from before Fortnite got really creative with their cosmetics. Being essentially just slightly different to defaults. Without the allure of their age and rarity, players might find these two aren’t exactly the most appealing in Fortnite anymore.
