What Fortnite Season is it Right Now?
What season of Fortnite are we currently in? Between all the different game modes we kind of have multiple seasons on the go at once right now. But what season of Fortnite is everything in?
The main part of the game, Battle Royale, is currently in a mini-season. Just like Remix or OG, it’s a shortened season without a proper number to it. It is still Chapter 6, but the current season is called Galactic Battle. Rather than moving into Season 3, we’ve got this for a month instead.
We might have only been on this island for a few months already, but this season will move us through to the second half of the Chapter. It’s a sizeable update too, adding a ton of new content. New mechanics, new weapons, a major change in gameplay.
We’re in the biggest new seasonal launch since we started in Chapter 6, with a ton of Star Wars related content. Regular updates are coming every week, so there will always be something new to look forward to. Now that Fortnite has multiple different Battle Royale on the go, it isn’t as simple as one seasonal number though. Although, with the other modes only launching at the start of Chapter 5, they aren’t quite as far in. This is how Fortnite’s current season breaks down.

At the moment, Battle Royale of Fortnite is in a mini season called Galactic Battle. A third season for this new Chapter, but not Season 3 it seems. The new a map has gotten a number of new POIs. Plus, other changes spread all over like Star Wars weapons and collab skins for the Battle Pass. It’s as a big of an update as we get with new seasons.
This isn’t Chapter 6 Season 3 though. Despite the game moving on from Season 2, we’ll have to wait and see what actually arrives for next season instead. This is closer to the numberless mini seasons we got previously. Although, a little more confusingly this one is sandwiched between two different seasons rather than being between Chapters like normal.
Fortnite’s first Chapter had 10 different seasons, but things got shorter over time. We saw only 7 seasons in Chapter 2, before turning to just a handful per Chapter more recently.
We now only seem to get four seasons for each Chapter. We’ve also had Fortnite OG which was kind of a Chapterless mini-season and then Fortnite Remix. A very similar thing in concept, a flashback to a past season. However, like OG it doesn’t have an official designation beyond a subtitle. We got two more proper seasons, before another mini one. These shorter seasons do seem to have a strong impact on player numbers though, with many jumping in to try it out.
So, while we’re technically in our 35th out of all Fortnite seasons. The current season is only running until June, so it’s only a month long until the next one kicks off. Then we’ll move on to a new season. After another two, we’ll probably go on to a fresh Chapter and map.
That’s just Battle Royale though. Fortnite is a lot more than that in 2025. These are other seasons you’ll need to keep track of in-game.
What Fortnite Festival Season is It?

Source: Epic
At the moment, Fortnite Festival is about a month into a new season. Festival Season 8 is all about Sabrina Carpenter. The singer is the featured artist for the season. Players can pick up their skin through this pass, which is now available in the Crew Pack too. There are also extra styles including one that’s coming to the Item Shop instead.
As with any Festival season, the Pass is just better value. The character can and probably will come to the item shop again in the future. We’ve seen pretty much all the featured artists return through the eight seasons of Festival to date. However, if you do want to unlock absolutely everything then it might be better to go with the Fortnite Festival Pass which includes all rewards.
What OG Season is it?

Source: @ShiinaBR
Part way into the current Chapter, Fortnite OG launched as a new mode. This game brings back the earlier days of Fortnite but it is still divided into different seasons. We’re seeing different original Fortnite seasons coming back. At the moment, we’re in Fortnite OG Season 3. The third season is definitely getting things into shape for where the game became more of what everyone remembers.
We’ve got Tilted Towers here, more interesting weapons, and the general looser feeling is getting a bit tighter. Season 3 is still early enough to have that charm, but it’s more polished than the first two seasons. Although, with Rocket Riding on guided missiles as a key feature, it’s playing a lot more chaotically than other modes at the moment. Essentially each of the seasonal updates from here are going to be ones that players look forward to. At least until we reach Season X!
Does Fortnite Lego Have Seasons?

Source: Epic Games
Fortnite Lego doesn’t have official seasons, but it does receive new content at roughly the same pace. The interesting thing with this game mode is everything so far is permanent. Rather than being tied to a seasonal schedule where content leaves, it just expands the game out.
We saw this recently with the Lego Fortnite Star Wars expansion, coming at the same time as Galactic Battle. This content is available even after the end date, but the event pass will be gone once its time is over. This means there’s a bit less fomo in Lego, most of the content is there for you to replay whenever. It isn’t really in a seasonal system like the other game.
Does Rocket Racing Have Seasons?
Kind of like Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing doesn’t have definitive seasons. It’s did previously get batches of new content with a set of themed content dropped regularly. However, Epic has decided not to term these as seasons and to instead just classify them as more content for racing. At least for as long as they actually updated the game.
More recently, the whole set-up with Rocket Racing has become a bit of an unknown. Epic has stopped doing larger themed content drops. While not officially discontinued and getting fresh rewards, a lot of players are wondering is Rocket Racing dead. Essentially, we don’t get larger updates anymore.
It has been this way for a while now. At first players had some hopes for more content coming but in a shortened time scale. However, its been quite a while now and there’s nothing on the horizon. It definitely looks like Rocket Racing is done.
Fortnite Reload

Source: Epic Games
Last summer’s most popular addition to Fortnite is Reload! This is a mini battle Royale that’s only launched very recently. At the moment, this doesn’t have clear seasonal divisions.
So far, it’s had updates that shuffle around its loot pool and extra modes. We can’t really call these seasons. The bigger changes come with new map updates.
With the launch of Fortnite Remix, it got its biggest update in Slurp Rush. A second new map, after the first new map for Fortnite Reload was desert themed. Along with the addition of new modes like Solos along the way. It provides as good of a distinction in the game’s progress as a new season would. However, it seems Reload will just get new content when it’s ready, rather than being tied to seasons.
We still don’t know when we can expect another drop of content. They do seem to favor releasing Reload expansions when the base game drifts further from its core gunplay for a season.
What Ranked Fortnite Season is it?
Finally, we have the Fortnite Ranked mode. This is parallel to Battle Royale. It’s in the same seasons and refreshes with a new rank for players since the regular season changes over.
This one is simple to keep track of, it ends when the Fortnite season ends. That’s how each of the Fortnite seasons works! With so many modes it is getting trickier to keep track of what Fortnite season it is. At the moment, they’re all lined up. June will bring the launch of a new season and yet more new modes though.
