Fortnite Galactic Battle Update Schedule – When is the Next Fortnite Update?
When is the next Fortnite update? There are constant changes coming to Epic’s title. We’re getting more of that than ever now the game has expanded to include Festival, Lego, and Rocket Racing. The update schedule can be tricky to stay on top of though. If you want to plan around the updates coming to Fortnite, it can pay to know when the game’s going offline.
Looking through the latest Fortnite patch notes, the game has been getting tons of updates lately. Especially with Galactic Battle beginning, and the addition of OG as a permanent second Battle Royale. However, the update release dates changed a little bit, with last season getting a bit off-track. Along with updates getting delayed to facilitate iOS Fortnite too. It has gotten a bit more complicated.
How far are we from the next Fortnite update? Typically, it’s only ever a few days or two before we see another update arrive. This is how Epic’s update schedule works and the answer to when is the next Fortnite update!

When Will the Next Fortnite Be? Epic’s Schedule
We’re expecting the next Fortnite update to arrive very soon, on Thursday May 29th! This will be a pretty big patch, but the Galactic Battle mini season will have different updates from the normal schedule.
As a mini season, we’re not expecting three months of content like usual. Instead, it’ll only last for a handful of weeks. Just like with Fortnite Remix, this will make it a bit easier to know when is the next Fortnite update. Epic has announced the entire update schedule for the current month and start of the next. We know exactly when each update will be, and what the changes to the game will be!
There are only two more updates left of the mini-season. However, it does mean we know the full details of what’s coming to the game before the next season begins. These are the remaining batches of content we’re expecting over Fortnite Galactic Battle:
May 29th Star Destroyers

The next Fortnite update, it’s going to introduce Star Destroyers to the game. A boss transformation, kind of like the Godzilla one we got in C6 S1.
Each game, you’ll be able to find a portal which lets you take control over a Star Destroyer. A powerful ship which will let you bombard players on the surface of the map. We don’t know much about extra skins coming in this one though.
Each of the early Galactic Battle Fortnite updates had new characters in the shop. But we don’t have any more planned Fortnite Star Wars skins, so it’s a mystery what’s going to be coming to the item shop.
June 7th – The End

The final Fortnite update of the mini-season comes on June 7th. It’s a live event which will see the end of the season out. We don’t expect too many gameplay changes here, since it’ll move us into the next Fortnite season. After that, update timings aren’t known again!
The new Fortnite season is supposed to begin on June 7th too, after being brought forward a day from its original release date of June 8th. This will likely mean downtime will begin immediately after the Fortnite event. With the new season arriving as soon as possible.
When are Fortnite Updates?
The next Fortnite update usually arrives at the same pace, on Tuesdays. At least during the opening part of the season, most Tuesdays see an update hit. In terms of more substantial patches, they’re typically on a bi-weekly basis. But Epic seems to be alternating between dropping bigger updates and smaller patches. Every other Tuesday we get something added to the game!
That’s not in effect for Galactic Battle though. Instead, we’re getting Thursday updates every day of the week. Even that got complicated after a short time though. Players had to wait an extra day for the Mandalorians update. It got delayed due to issues with mobile Fortnite. However, now Fortnite is back on iOS in that region, those problems should be avoided. We can expect the scheduled Thursday release dates for the rest of Galactic Battle!

If you want to know when the next Fortnite update is, the most likely answer is normally next Tuesday! Outside of season end and start dates, like where we are now. These more often all on weekends when more people can play the new content.
Another big change lately has been with all the different game modes. New content for all of them tend to arrive on Tuesdays. However, it does mean we sometimes get an update which is more for a different mode, not content for Battle Royale.
However, there are a few times when the game does change its pace. Since Chapter 5 launched, the game has had a few delays. The update day often fell on a Wednesday for the first season or so. For the most part, the next update usually comes on a Tuesday though, at least when Epic is up to date on their release schedule. This season it’s Thursdays too, or was supposed to be.
The other major change to updates comes with Epic’s twice-a-year breaks. This will mean we won’t get a new Fortnite update for a few weeks. But a solitary couple of weeks once or twice a year still makes Fortnite one of the most actively updated games.
Fortnite Update Schedule Breaks
The game has two breaks where we don’t see any Fortnite updates! There’s a Christmas break and a summer one. In these times, we get events in-game to keep players busy. There are no new updates in this period though.
We typically get the summer break during August. The Winter break comes over Christmas and New Years Eve. During this period, we won’t get any new Fortnite updates. However, with the events added the day the break starts, there is plenty to do. Even if the Summer event has had a few rough years.
When is the Next Update to Lego Fortnite?
Lego Fortnite has been pretty popular since it launched, even driving a new high for the Fortnite player base. The game hasn’t been as actively supported as Fortnite Battle Royale though. This game only gets intermittent updates, and doesn’t have a clear schedule. Although, it gets at least one substantial new content drop a season.
We’ve just had the most recent Lego Fortnite update, with Star Wars content. These typically arrive alongside a Battle Royale update though. We’ve only just had a substantial update to Lego Fortnite, so we don’t expect another for a little while still. Its content will be actually coming into the game over the next weeks though, rather than all at once.
When is the Next Update to Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival?
Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival are two other game modes that also have different update schedules. Rocket Racing doesn’t have seasons or updates anymore, so the answer to the next update here is probably never.
Fortnite Festival on the other hand is a bit different. It has Festival Passes which run on its own schedule. These have been arriving every two months. New Fortnite Festival tracks on the other hand are cycled in daily! This is a rotation for songs in use and we get updates on Tuesday like the other modes to expand the overall pool of songs. The next Festival season will start in the next Fortnite season, then we’ll have quite a while to wait for the next one.
Will Griddy come back into the item shop in March?
