7 Days to Die Experimental 1.0 Release Is Launching From Today

Several weeks ago, it was revealed that 7 Days to Die would be ‘graduating’ to a 1.0 release after several years as an early-access product. It’s a monumental moment for any early access title, as it’s considered the official and full release of the game and it’s sure to bring thousands of players pouring into the ecosystem. Today, 7 Days to Die starts a staggered rollout of the 1.0 version, with an experimental product going live first and the first official 1.0 launch taking place on Steam and Microsoft PC on July 25.

For years, 7 Days to Die has been widely regarded as one of the best sandbox zombie survival games ever made. It offers untapped potential where freedom is concerned, giving players the ability to build, survive, and battle zombies in a vast location alone or with friends. The 1.0 release goes hand-in-hand with a slew of upgrades and bonus content, and once the game has hit the market in full, expansions and special events are planned for further down the line.

10 Years to Make 7 Days

7 days to die eoeo

It has been more than a decade since 7 Days to Die first appeared, and in that time, it has gone from strength to strength. It’s so rare that an early-access game graduates to a 1.0 state after so long, so this is a fantastic occasion for both the game’s developer and the fans worldwide.

While the ‘stable launch’ is booked for July 25, plenty is happening before then and players can get access to the 1.0 version before that date rolls around. From today, a special streamer event is taking place, which is the first opportunity to see the experimental version of 1.0 being played. From June 24, the public version of the experimental product goes live on Steam. Then, at the end of June, the console edition of 1.0 will be available to wishlist on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for the first time.

If all goes well, the console version will be released on July 25 with a sizeable discount for ‘legacy digital owners’ of the old-generation version of the game.

This is an ambitious and well-deserved moment for The Fun Pimps, the developer that has spent all these years finessing 7 Days to Die. The streamer event that kicks off today will see 250 content creators from around the world taking part in an exclusive playtest – it’s sure to be a hit with fans.

From here, users can look forward to the roadmap, which includes:

  • Stable Launch – July 25, 2024
  • Update 1: Storm’s Brewing – Q4 2024
  • Update 2: A New Threat – Q2 2025
  • Update 3: The Road Ahead – Q4 2025

An All-New Product

It’s an understatement to say that the 1.0 version of 7 Days to Die is ‘better’ than the early-access product. The Fun Pimps have introduced a staggering number of changes to celebrate the graduation of the game on all platforms. For instance, a brand-new character system has been built that boasts new animations, character models, customisation options, and skin and hair elements. The armour and clothing systems have been boosted and expanded massively, as has the range and clarity of animal models in the game.

The Fun Pimps have brought in a new challenge system that’ll welcome players to the game, and there are refreshed and upgraded vehicles across the map. With tweaks to the game’s random world events, new and enhanced biomes, more zombie variants, upgrades to the game’s audio and lighting mechanics, and better integration for Twitch, it’s safe to say that 7 Days to Die has been given a new lease of life with this 1.0 release.

No splitcreen for console…no sale

X3vanquish3X

You should be able to game stream and cast to a tv with a controller. Calm down.

Lord Ashtray

How is that even an issue? Consoles suck, anyway

Razorback53

They Don’t suck if that’s all you can afford you rich whiney little bitch

Calmyourtyts

I play on a TV with a PS5 or PS4 controller with no issue. Console not needed. As for split screen: it’s 2024. Split screen has been dead since the PS2.

TZ(oomer)D

What RL friends are you pretending to have over that would require split screen, zoom zoom?

MeatlikeSubstance

It’s for his little brother because he isn’t allowed to game on the console by himself after dinner, he has to share.

It’s the hard life of an entitled 12 year old.

Mornay

You console players and your ongoing obsession with split-screen. Get a PC, play games properly. Nuff said.

They should update the ps4 version to

Nathan H.

Apparently you have no idea why this is happening the way it is. All the information why it is has been available for over a year. Not going to happen, never going to happen and it’s very easy to understand why.

Average Guy

That’s a surprisingly rude response to a pretty benign comment. If it’s very easy to understand why, it should be very easy to explain why. I play on pc and never bothered to read about console, so I also don’t know why they aren’t updating other versions. You seem to know, so it would be cool to help this person who enjoys the same game as us.

Twisted Gamer

Nathan H is right in the fact its simple to understand. TFP know how to develop a game but dont know crap about protecting there own ip against a Tall Tails long road to bankruptcy and instead of putting a clause in the deal for in the event TT whent under thay whent for a cash grab on consoles left the console community’s conserns on unread for about 3 years and then pretty much told them to pound sand then came back and told them if you want to play you have to pay us again for a game you already own but everyone else gets free updates. I think yhat about sums it up.

Richie

Yes I agree I shouldn’t have to buy it again when I’ve owned the game for 12 years

Dogwallet

Idk why hes being downvoted by all these pc players, but this is wxactly what happened

KEKW

The consoles are a cash grab themselves. Anything revolving consoles is a cash grab. Now downvote me to hell because you dont like the truth.
