Is Halo Infinite dead: A look at how many people play the game in 2025

Player numbers for Halo Infinite tend to ebb and flow. When a new update drops, an influx of thousands of Spartans join the servers. However, there is a steady drop off for the months between update cycles. This is something that is incredibly normal for live service games, though.

The last active spike came at the tail end of February 2024 with the Cyber Showdown III Operation Pass. It saw an uptick of 1000 average players, averaging over 5000 active users. This marked a change from the 3 months of gradual decline of about 1200 spread across November 2023 to January 2024.

Peak player counts for Halo Infinite in late 2024, and Q1 2025, have been north of 5000 for five months in a row. Ever since the October 2023 update, the player count has been gradually decreasing. Numbers have gone down since then but have maintained a consistent peak player count per month. Thus, it begs to ask why people wonder is Halo Infinite dead? Because the verdict is that it certainly is not.

Developer Support

More and more game types have been added to Halo Infinite, which was certainly lacking features at launch, basically boiling down to casual play, and Halo ranking system. It did have people disgruntled, and for those that left and were unsure to come back, there’s a lot on the table now. The series’ staple, Infection, is now in the game as of season 5 and in full swing with extra cosmetics.

Husky Raid, a fan favorite twist on Capture the Flag with Fiesta-style random weapons and abilities has received support after feedback. And of course, the lifeblood of community Halo, Forge mode was finally introduced to Halo Infinite recently.

FYI, Bungie hasn’t been the developer for Halo in literally 14 years, it’s 343 Industries
