Krafton, Solana seal partnership for blockchain games & NFTs

More mainstream games will be indulged in the growing world of non-fungible tokens or NFTs, after Krafton revealed that they are now joining the crypto bandwagon.  And this is courtesy of their partnership with blockchain giant Solana – who is also ventured on bringing NFTs into video games.

Krafton x Solana

Krafton, Solana seal NFT partnership

Krafton, famously known to be the creators of battle-royale sensation PUBG, mentioned that this move would allow them to “development and operation of blockchain and NFT-based games and services.” Hyungchul Park, the web 3.0 lead from Krafton, provided a statement about their latest partnership with Solan that reads as:

“Krafton will continuously see ways to work closely with blockchain companies like Solana Labs as we stride towards establishing our Web 3.0 ecosystem.

As one of the best global high-performance blockchains with strength in high speed and low fees, Solana represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem and its technologies. Through this collaboration, Krafton will acquire the insight needed to accelerate its investment in and output of blockchain-based experiences.”

Krafton’s venture into the NFT space

It is worth noting that Krafton’s sub-company, Bluehole Studios has already ventured themselves into the NFT space after the announcement last month that they invested in the Seoul Auction Blue and XBYBLUE, both of which are digital art subsidiaries.

Solana Labs’ head of games business development, Johnny Lee, on the other hand, also spoke about Krafton’s dive into the NFT space. He said:

“We’re excited by Krafton’s commitment to build the future of gaming on Solana. Krafton is an established innovator in the gaming industry, and we are excited to be part of their next level up. We are seeing gamers increasingly seek out on-chain games and gaming companies who respond quickly to this demand will set themselves up well for ongoing success.”

Will we see NFTs being integrated into PUBG? Possibly at a later date.

For now Krafton is likely going to focus on developing new blockchain based titles and some form of games based on NFTs. Play-to-earn games are not out of the question either.
