Wild Rift’s Arena Mode – Everything You Need To Know
League of Legends’ highly popular Arena Mode has made its way to the Wild Rift, coming with all the bells and whistles of its desktop counterpart.
This article will explain what Arena is, when you can play it, and some of the best champions to play.
What is Wild Rift’s Arena Mode?

Arena is a 2v2v2v2 mode that sees four duos go up against each other. The teams will face off throughout multiple rounds, with intervals that allow players to buy items and select randomly generated Augments, which were first introduced in League of Legends auto-battler, Teamfight Tactics.
In Wild Rift Arena, in each combat round, two teams will battle, with the loser seeing their health depleted. This goes on until there is only one duo left standing.
In the current version of League of Legends Arena, the mode has been expanded to 16 players, which makes 8 teams. In the latest release of Arena for Wild Rift in 2023, there were only four teams. It is unknown if they’ll implement the same feature the next time Arena comes to Wild Rift.

Unfortunately for mobile players looking to play Arena right now, it is currently not available. In 2023, Riot released a beta version of the event to Wild Rift as a trial run to see how the game would fair on its mobile edition of the game.
As of the timing of this article, Riot has not announced when, or if Arena will be returning to Wild Rift, but they did tease the future return in their Arena article.
Arena Tips – How to play
Although players on mobile will not be able to play until the eventual return of Arena, there are some basics and tips you need to get down to give yourself the best chance to win:
- Pick champions that synergize: Although playing LoL Arena fun duos can be entertaining, it’s not the best way to win games. Finding the best duo can be difficult if you have not played the mode much. For example, make sure one champion has some form of hard CC and is tankier. Tanks are a great role to play in this mode, as your damage works differently than in a traditional game of League of Legends. Decide with your duo who wants to be the main damage dealer, and who wants to be the tank/support.
- Only use viable champions in Arena: Although Riot has gone to length to expand the game to as many champions as possible, there was always going to be a meta that revolves around a selected few. We’ll get on that in a bit.
- Go for the plants!: Many players will often fight over the plants that spawn in Arena. They are small objectives that give you health and a shield, and also lower your ability cooldowns.
- Play together: One of the worst mistakes players could make in Arena is go off solo. It is a duos game for a reason, so communicate and decide on your focus targets with your teammate as much as possible.
Wild Rift Arena: Champions Tier List

Unlike in it’s PC counterpart, in Wild Rift you’re given 9 random champion pool each time. You can get 3 extra champions if you buy the Arena Pass. So, you won’t be able to spam the your best champion each game.
Here’s our list of 5 best champions to pick, if you have them in your champion pool in the pick phase:
Master Yi – Same as in League of Legends, he is one of the most broken champions in the Arena mode. Get the right ability haste augments and you can Q the entire time, not even giving your opponents a chance to CC you.
Dr. Mundo – Can out-sustain, and yet out-kill almost every champion. Stack that Heartsteel, get some resists, win the game.
Rammus – Can stack-up ridiculous amounts of armor and make the game unplayable for the enemies, especially ADCs. Throw in some Magic Resist and you’re good to go.
Alistar – With his large amount of CC, he can make the game unplayable for the enemies. Get some ability haste and constantly throw people out of the circle so they take the burn damage. He’s also one of the tankiest Arena champions.
Kayn – Specifically Rhaast. He has so much innate % health and healing in his kit that it makes him a tank buster that simply cannot die.
There’s a lot to experiment with in the Arena Mode. You won’t always get the best Augments in LoL Arena that compliments your pick. So, communicate with your teammate, choose your spells and augments wisely, and get that W.
