Who is Illari? The New Season 6 OW Hero
We’ve got a big look at the new Season 6 OW Hero thanks to a brand new trailer. Blizzard has shown off a detailed look at the kit coming for Illari in OW. It’s going to be a unique take on the Support Hero archetype which should spice the role up quite a bit. As part of Overwatch Invasion, a load of new features are coming including this brand new characters. They could even end up being one of the best OW heroes for beginners, although at the moment it looks like the kit seems refreshingly high skill for a support.
New Season 6 OW Hero
Blizzard hasn’t broken down the new Hero in terms of their specific kit yet. We don’t have the full breakdown that players are waiting for with the OW news and patch notes for Season 6. However, thanks to a flashy trailer for the new season we’ve got a pretty good look at what’s coming to the game with the Illari OW update.

The new Hero is set to be a support. We’ve known about this for quite a while. Their specific kit has been shown off in an interesting way in the new trailer though.
Illari OW Kit and Abilities
The new trailer has shown off what looks like numerous new abilities for Illari in Overwatch. We might not have an official explainer just yet, but we’ve gotten enough looks in the trailer to see quite a bit of how the character will function.
It looks like Illari in OW will have a weapon that appears to be a railgun. One that works at a longer distance sending out exploding projectiles. In the trailer Illari is seen taking out Ana from a longer distance to show this off.

We also see the Season 6 OW hero use an ability which sends them launching into the air. That before she throws out a huge bomb of energy below, dealing high damage.
Alongside the more offensive abilities, there’s more traditional support stuff. She seems to be able to use a turret to heal teammates. There’s also a mobility move by the looks of it.
Previous Season 6 OW Hero Teasers
Before we got this initial look at the Hero in the trailer, we’d had plenty of earlier teases. The next OW hero is coming up soon. Between what’s been shown publicly and some Overwatch leaks, we actually have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the very next hero! This is everything we’ve learned about the Season 6 OW Hero prior to this reveal.
Who is the Season 6 OW Hero?
The Season 6 OW Hero has a decent bit of information out there already. For a start, we’ve known for quite a while that this is going to be a Support Hero! Just like Lifeweaver, the Season 4 Hero, this is going to be a new choice for the support section which has been smaller than the other two for quite a while now.
Past that, we got an official look at the new character’s design in a recent trailer for OW Invasion.

That first tease is all we had for a little while. More recently, Blizzard has shared some fan art of that character which might give a clearer look at what’s coming. While official Overwatch accounts often share fan art, picking one of an upcoming hero is a bit stranger. It’s based purely on the silhouette we saw in the trailer. It’s possible that this means the fan art is quite a bit closer to the actual hero than what others have imagined so far. Their choice of emoji would seem to back that up too.

Even in this initial reveal, players expected the new support to have some extra mobility. The trailer depicted them using a cape or cloak of some kind to either fly or leap high. This could be a potential new mechanic for moving around on the map. This could make her a solid counter to other major heroes. The new Illari OW trailer seems to imply she’s a good counter for Ana.
Is There a Season 5 Hero?
OW won’t be getting a new Hero at any point in Season 5. Blizzard is only adding these bi-seasonally. Although their schedule has slipped a bit for some content, it does seem like they’re sticking to adding new OW characters every other season. That means the Season 6 OW hero is going to be the next one. After that, there’s a wait up to Season 8 to get another addition, the first non-support in a while.
