Getting the EXP share is pretty simple, there’s no HMs needed to get to the building that has it, and its nearly a straight walk from the nearest Pokecentre. There’s only one requirement, but its something that by the time you’re looking for the EXP share, you should already have met it.

  1. Obtain 50 Pokémon: Make sure you’ve caught at least 50 different Pokémon types.
  2. Reach Route 15: First, make your way to Route 15. You can go right from Fuchsia City’s PokeCentre until you hit trees, go up and right to go onto Route 15.
  3. Go to the Gatehouse: The Gatehouse is the first connecting segment between Fuchsia City and the real part of Route 15. Take the stairs, you’ll see them walking across the blue carpet inside.
  4. Talk to the Professor’s Aide: In the gatehouse, you’ll find one of Professor Oak’s aides. If you’ve caught 50 Pokémon, he’ll give you the EXP Share.

Here’s a great step-by-step video made by MankeyMite on how you do it:

That’s all there is to it. To equip it you need to give to a Pokemon as a held item. Unlike newer games where its a toggleable key item, that is on by default.

With the EXP Share, you can level up your Pokémon more efficiently and make the game easier. There are those among us who like to make things easier for themselves and those who prefer it to be difficult. Mainline Pokemon games aren’t really challenging these days but if you do like an easier ride, EXP share is the perfect way to level up that Pokemon that you just want to evolve before you actually send it into battle.

Happy training!
