Although it can be daunting at first, once you begin to learn the basics of setting up a stream, it will all fall into place. There isn’t much to getting the stream up and running. Adding more technical features to your stream will then be up to you. But getting it running and streaming on a platform isn’t difficult.

Ornn streaming needs to credits.
Setting Up Your League of Legends Stream
The first step to getting this stream up and running is downloading OBS. You can use other software to broadcast your games, but I have found OBS the easiest for a beginner. Head over to this link here to begin downloading OBS.
Once you have OBS downloaded. In the bottom left corner of the screen, you will see “Scenes.” Because League of Legends has two client versions, one for the out-of-game client and one for the in-game, you will need two different scenes. Let’s start with the out-of-game client.
How to Setup LoL Client for Stream
Obviously the first step is to run your game. Open our Riot Games launcher and run League of Legends. After that move into your OBS, and make the following selections:
- In the box next to the scenes, you will see a sources tab. Press the + button and click ‘Window Capture.’
- Click on Window and select the League of Legends client [LeagueClientUx.exe]: League of Legends.
- If you wish for your mouse cursor not to be visible on stream, uncheck “Capture Cursor.”
- Click Ok.

Your League of Legends client will now be visible on OBS. If the client does not take up the whole screen, click on the Window capture, wait for the outline to be red, and then drag the box to fix the screen. Now that the out-of-game client is working let’s move on to displaying what is going on in-game.

We highly recommend that you do this in a custom game rather than a matchmade game so as not to ruin the game for your teammates. Once you are in a custom game, here is how you show your gameplay.

- Create a new scene on OBS and name it something different so it is not confused with the other scenes.
- In the sources section, click the + button and ‘Window Capture.’
- Click on Window and select the second League of Legends client [League of Legends.exe]: League of Legends (TM) Client.
- As before, move the screen around to adjust it to your stream.
If you wish to be more technical, you can set up hotkeys in the settings to transition smoothly from one scene to the next without manually clicking on them. Congratulations! Your stream is ready to go, now all that is left for you to do is connect OBS to your desired platform.
