One of the best ways to find out if the server is down is obviously eliminating any other questions. Make sure your game is up to do date. Some of that also comes down to making sure your launcher, Battle.net is up to date. Sometimes it will show that your game is up to date when the update itself won’t even show until you update Battle.net.
If you still can’t log in, you can check other Blizzard titles such as Diablo or Overwatch 2 server status to see if those servers are also offline, and it might be a Blizzard-wide outage.
Other ways to check to see if its the servers or you is to check Steam server status or Epic Games. If those are down too, its more likely you are having internet issues, rather than all these servers having issues at the same time.
To find out about official outages, you should check the World of Warcraft’s Twitter/X. They have a very good track record for letting people know about long term or officially scheduled downtime. They also have a good record for getting these noted in their launcher and news sites. However, if there’s no any official Blizzard news about an outage, check social medias and see what others are saying.
