Top LTA Championship 2025 Storylines To Watch

A good storyline is what every fan lives for. Without it, there’s simply no entertainment value! In recent weeks, some interesting narratives have taken shape, including a serious matter that has rightfully dominated Reddit’s front page.

FlyQuest Suspends Bwipo For Sexist Remarks

What was meant to be a victory lap for FlyQuest this playoffs has instead turned into a major controversy. Recently, top laner Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau made unhinged sexist remarks on a Twitch live stream, claiming that women could not compete professionally while on their menstrual cycle.

The comments naturally sparked outrage from the broader esports community, drawing backlash from key industry figures, such as esports presenter Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere, LTA commentator Isaac “Azael” Cummings-Bentley, and many others.

FlyQuest responded with a statement, saying, “Bwipo made sexist comments that are antithetical to FlyQuest’s core values.[…] As a result, we will be suspending Bwipo from play for the next series in the LTA playoffs and donating his event prize money to causes that support women in gaming.”

Will 100 Thieves Or Shopify Rebellion Make Worlds 2025?

With FlyQuest and Vivo Keyd Stars both locking in spots at LoL Worlds 2025, there is only one spot left for the remaining LTA North and LTA South teams to fight over. This means either Shopify Rebellion or 100 Thieves (or potentially both) will miss out on representing their region at the biggest esports event of the year.

100 Thieves catapulted themselves into being the clear favorites after an incredible lower-bracket run in Split 3, giving FlyQuest a run for their money and practically destroying Shopify Rebellion in the process. That said, Shopify needs to find its footing, as another slip-up could end its Worlds hopes.

Can LTA South Upset The Apple Cart?

In the North, the focus is centered on having two teams at Worlds. But this isn’t necessarily guaranteed. LTA South still has the opportunity to “do the funniest thing” and send 100 Thieves and Shopify Rebellion packing.

The same rule applies for the South: if a team reaches the top three that isn’t Vivo, they are pretty much guaranteed the third and final seed for Worlds. While this doesn’t seem likely, there are areas of weakness that could be exploited.

100 Thieves rode a wave of momentum to reach the Split 3 Final. Now, with that miracle run behind them, they have to regroup as the heavy favorites—a role they haven’t held for some time. Meanwhile, Shopify Rebellion has an easier path to recovery, so long as the team can maintain focus.

Who Are The Top Teams At LTA Championship 2025?

Now that we have established the biggest storylines, let’s go over the favorites for the LTA Championship 2025. These are the teams we believe have the best shot at taking home the crown.

FlyQuest

Beyond all the drama, FlyQuest still stands as the top contender. They have been a cut above the rest since the start of Split 2. And while they lost to 100 Thieves in Split 1, they were still reeling from an epic Worlds 2024 run and took some time to readjust.

If Bwipo receives further punishment from Riot, perhaps this is a different story, as their young rookie has not held up too well in the two games he has played thus far. That said, if FlyQuest is at full strength, they should walk this bracket and make a deep run to the LTA Finals.

Here’s the FlyQuest roster:

  • Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau
  • Ibrahim “Gakgos” Bulut (top substitute)
  • Kacper “Inspired” Słoma
  • Song “Quad” Seung-yeon
  • Fahad “Massu” Abdulmalek
  • Alan “Busio” Cwalina

100 Thieves

Although new environments have often been their downfall, 100 Thieves now look well-positioned to qualify for Worlds. Proving their mettle, they swept rivals Shopify Rebellion 3-0 in Split 3 and even managed to take a game off FlyQuest in the Finals—a series where they arguably should have been up 2-0.

Bolstering their chances is Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung, who has returned to championship form at the right time for 100 Thieves. However, they’ll need him to put on his carry pants and handle business in the two opening matches if they want to qualify for Worlds.

Here is the 100 Thieves roster:

  • Niship “Dhokla” Doshi
  • Rayan “Sniper” Shoura (top substitute)
  • Kim “River” Dong-woo
  • Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung
  • Victor “FBI” Huang
  • Bill “Eyla” Nguyen

Vivo Keyd Stars

While it is possible that all three North American teams could win the championship, it would be unfair to rule out the possibility of Vivo Keyd Stars hitting at the right time, especially when cracks are already starting to show in the North American squads.

One of the most significant factors that Vivo will have is the travelling Brazilian audience. At MSI 2023 in London, LOUD’s fans took over the arena, creating an electric atmosphere. The Brazilian squad is expected to have similar support in Texas, which could unsettle the North American teams.

Here is the Vivo Keyd Stars roster:

  • Felipe “Boal” Boal
  • Pedro “Disamis” Gonçalves
  • Jeong “Mireu” Jo-bin
  • Matheus “Morttheus” Motta
  • Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus

Shopify Rebellion

Shopify Rebellion had the momentum sucked out of them following back-to-back defeats to FlyQuest and 100 Thieves, with the latter being the more surprising given it was a 3-0 sweep. That said, they are still a good team and have the ability to bounce back.

However, with the momentum favoring 100 Thieves and FlyQuest still being the top dogs, it’s hard to place them any higher than third or fourth right now.

Here is the Shopify Rebellion roster:

  • Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami
  • Juan “Contractz” Garcia
  • Cristian “Palafox” Palafox
  • Ju “Bvoy” Yeong-hoon
  • Denilson “Ceos” Gonçalves
