Apex Legends Breakout Set to Revolutionize Battle Royale’s Meta
Respawn has just unveiled one of the biggest updates to hit the Battle Royale, Apex Legends Breakout. This new update will change tons about the game, from how Legends work to Ranked. What is the Apex Legends Breakout release date? And what can you expect to change when the update does hit?
While we’ve been waiting for Apex Season 20 to arrive, there have been quite a few leaks. We’ve now got a fuller look at some of EA’s plans to revamp the game. This is what’s been revealed with the Apex Breakout patch notes.

Apex Legends Breakout Legend Changes
One of the biggest changes coming with this update is the Legends upgrade system. This is a new progression system specific to each game of Battle Royale. As you play through the game, you’ll be able to further specialize your Legends gameplay and unlock new abilities. It resets every game too, so you’re free to mix things up with how you play.
As you earn EVO, you’ll now be able to unlock different perks. At Levels two and three, you’ll get upgraded armor but also unique effects too. This is adding even more decisions to make as you play through the game. It won’t be enough to just use the best Apex Legends characters, you’ll need to choose your upgrades wisely too. This is all coming along with some changes to the shield.

Body Shields Swapped for Legend Armor
As part of this big reorganization, players are seeing a big change to the game’s shields. You can’t find body shields while looting anymore. Instead, Legends will gain a Legend-specific armor as they level up. You will still have to find shield Cores to refuel some shield, though. Picking up a higher-leveled one of these will overcharge your armor. It’ll add an extra shield for 30 seconds before it turns into your normal amount. These are fairly big changes in the Apex Breakout Patch Notes.
How to Get EVO
The new level-up features are tied to EVO, but how can you get it in-game? There are a few specific tasks you’ll need to do if you want to get EVO and start earning upgrades. The ways to unlock it after the Apex Legends Breakout release date are:
- Deal damage
- Knock players, assist in Knocks (scales depending on the level of the character knocked)
- Finishers
- Capture Caches
- Squad Wipes
- Revives
- Respawns
- Interactions
- EVO Harvesters
The last of these is another new addition. EVO Harvesters will spawn randomly across the map. Interacting with them will allow you to gain EVO. These are a replacement for crafting harvesters.

Ranked
The next major change is coming to the Apex Legends Ranked mode. Here, things are getting reverted to a more transparent system. Ranked will now place a higher emphasis on eliminations. This should help to eliminate “rat” strats. There’s also a much more transparent scoring system, including bonuses when you’re on a roll and have a streak of good performances.
Apex Legends Breakout Release Date
Those are the biggest changes to Apex Breakout in the new patch notes. This is an update that seems to directly address a good number of the biggest concerns players have with the game. When can we expect to see it in-game, though? The Apex Legends Breakout Release date is going to be on Feb. 12, 2024. We’ll be able to see how all of the new changes handle in-game then.
