In October 2023, NAVI made headlines when Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev—the undisputed GOAT of CS:GO—stepped down from the active roster. By the time PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 began on March 17, NAVI was still seen as a team in transition, entering the event ranked #6.

Starting in the Elimination Stage, NAVI barely survived with a 3-2 score to make it to the Playoffs. In the Quarterfinals of the single-elimination bracket, however, they flourished, beating the Turkish side Eternal Fire 2-0 (16-13 on Mirage, 13-9 on Inferno).

By the Semifinals, NAVI edged out G2 Esports 2-1 (16-13 on Anubis, 7-13 on Nuke, and 13-11 on Ancient). However, the Grand Final set them against the ultimate final boss: FaZe Clan, a team ranked #1 in the world at the time. NAVI struck first, securing Ancient 13-9 to take the lead.

FaZe Clan demolished NAVI on Mirage with a 13-2 to set up a third and deciding map. On Inferno, the Ukrainian side returned the favor, breaking FaZe Clan with a 13-3 win to close out the Grand Final, becoming the first-ever CS2 Major champions.

All CS:GO Major Championship Winners List

At DreamHack Winter 2013 (November 28-30, 2013) in Jönköping, Sweden, Valve introduced the first-ever CS:GO Major Championships—now simply referred to as Majors. The CS:GO competitive circuit then ran for a decade, concluding shortly after the release of CS2 in late 2023.

During this period, there were 19 CS:GO Major Championships. The first seven, sponsored by Valve, had $250,000 prize pools. This later increased to $1 million and even peaked at $2 million at PGL Major Stockholm 2021, before settling on the $1,250,000 prize pool used today.

Let’s take a peek back into the past to examine all the CS:GO Major winners in history, including the tournament, its location, the winners, runners-up, the score in the Grand Final, and the prize pool.
