Dota 2 ESL One Summer 2021 Betting Odds and Match Analysis

ESL One Summer 2021 delivers their own take at a major-level tournament a day after the WePlay AniMajor concluded. It comes with a generous 400,000 USD prize pool, enough to rival Valve’s majors. Considered giants at their respective regions, VP and Alliance, are also official TI10 invitees. Despite securing invites, their performance at the WePlay AniMajor was lackluster for the most part. VP did not even win a single series before they were eliminated at twelfth place. The same could be said for Alliance, who, despite being playoffs seeds, couldn’t stand their ground against their opponents.

Both rivals are still going strong at the ESL One Summer 2021, which is what matters here. VP and Alliance defeated team OG and Team Secret, respectively, to proceed further into the upper bracket. On paper, VP is certainly far more explosive in their execution, as they force OG to give up at just 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, Alliance themselves had a fairer fight against Team Secret, but it ultimately concluded with a decisive team fight. Dota 2 odds-wise, VP has the upper hand at x1.57 odds versus Alliance at x2.34. The odds also reflect my opinions about this two teams, as VP is likely to come out ahead.

T1 vs Quincy Crew

We got ourselves a DeJa’Vu series between T1 and Quincy Crew. T1 snatched the series against the North American squad at the WePlay AniMajor, and even went on to become the second runner-up. Meanwhile, Quincy Crew didn’t have such a fantastic ending as they were eventually defeated by Vici Gaming. Once again, T1 has proven to be a competent team, even amongst the TI10 candidates. Looking at how the SEA team’s bandwagon is blooming like algae, it’s tough not to hop on and cheer for T1.

Fanatical support aside, T1’s revamped line-up played around Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon being the wunderkind of the squad. 23savage certainly lives up to his name as a skilled carry player as he never falls behind in net worth. Even if his team isn’t performing too well throughout the game. Hence, he becomes T1’s last line of defence in case of their opponents wanting to end the game.

Thanks to T1’s recent success, there’s no denying that they are the absolute favorites at the ESL One Summer 2021. With odds of x1.45 versus Quincy Crew at x2.66 odds, let’s just say the fans (me included) have high expectations for this SEA team to deliver.

AS Monaco Gambit vs Vikin.gg

We start the Lower Bracket matches with AS Monaco Gambit versus Vikin.gg. We have watched Gambit at the WePlay AniMajor, albeit only in Wild Cards series, and Vikin.gg in their rough DPC journey as well.

Vikin.gg was indisputably a formidable team, but due to losing at sixth place during DPC 2021 Season 1, they were demoted to Lower Division. Nevertheless, we saw first-hand how capable this team could be when they sweep the floor against Nigma.

There are definitely expectations for Vikin.gg to deliver, but they have been somewhat conservative in their drafts. For instance, non-meta heroes like Invoker and Spectre were their go-to choices instead of the more familiar picks we saw at the WePlay AniMajor games. Perhaps there is a silver lining for these decisions, say it’s heroes that they are more comfortable playing.

Dota 2 odds heavily favor Vikin.gg at x1.44 versus AS Monaco Gambit at x2.7 returns. My predictions here are flipped, and I would give this match over to Gambit instead.

Team Nigma vs OG

To conclude the day, it will be an exciting match between Nigma and OG. Some may even call it an El Clásico or a blast from the past. After all, both teams have had quite a history, most notably during the grand finals at the International 2019.

Nevertheless, it’s been two years since then, and much has changed for both sides. OG announced the re-entry of Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan  to replace Anathan “ana” Pham. Although it caused quite the stir regarding whether SumaiL is a good fit for the OG line-up, it’s probably OG’s best bet at having an unorthodox carry player.

Meanwhile, Nigma has been far superior, making commendable results at the WePlay AniMajor and the DPC season overall. While we mentioned that, Nigma was defeated by Vikin.gg two days ago. Anyways, between the two European powerhouses, Nigma has the odds in their favor at x1.58 against OG at x2.31 odds.

ESL One Summer 2021 may seem like filler events until the International 10 regional qualifiers and TI10 itself. However, it’s actually an ambitious training ground for teams to test the waters before the real battle begins. Depending on who comes out on top at the ESL One Summer 2021, we might just have ourselves a reliable candidate in Dota 2 betting.
