Fortnite has tons of esports events every season, from the FNCS to cash cups. The Fortnite Ranked Cups are a bit different though. These are a special tournament that have been held for the last year. Each season there’s a new special reward. A free cosmetic you can unlock just by playing.
Fortnite esports tournaments that offer cosmetics can be a bit tricky. You’d have to grind your way up to the very top of the leaderboard to get the prize. However, the Fortnite Ranked Cups are a little different. These are events where most players can get a prize. With determination, everyone can, even if they’re not setting the world on fire.
How do Fortnite Ranked Cups work and what prizes can you get in the first Chapter 6 season? These events are back in Chapter 6 Season 1. However, the different meta and gameplay will change things up for competitors.

The Ranked Cup Sessions will be held regularly over the season, each one lasting four hours. In that time, you’re free to play as many games as you like. That’s already different from other major cup formats like the Fortnite cash cups. However, if you’re aiming to win, it’s only four matches that matter. The top-scoring matches in the session will count for the leaderboard.
Frustrating if you have an amazing 5 games, but if you just want the points for your glider it’ll make it quite a bit easier. Your best games make the leaderboard and decide where you place.
How can you earn points to unlock your reward? There are a few ways to get points in Fortnite tournaments. Placement and kills both count, but there are no other objectives this season. You’ll get 65 points for a Victory Royale. Then, less depending on where you come, down to just 3 points for finishing 51st-75th. Each elim is also worth 1 point in Bronze, Silver. and Gold, 2 in Platinum and Diamond, and 2 in Elite upwards.
Since the Rift In POI island has been transformed into the Shogun Arena, there’s no extra points for claiming it anymore. However, getting the invisibility medallion and Mythic Katana can’t exactly hurt your chances in that game.
The Fortnite Ranked Cups are grouped based on the Fortnite Ranking system. There’s more than one tournament held in each session. Ranks are divided between the lowest three (Bronze, Silver, and Gold), middle (Platinum and Diamond), and highest (Elite upward). So, in theory, you’ll be with players at your skill level. Although not everyone plays ranked and gets a grade to their skill level, it doesn’t always work out like this.
Since we’re back in a full-length season, the ranks are a bit more reflective of skill again. These Fortnite Ranked Cups are taking place until the end of the current Fortnite season. Since it has already been a few weeks, players should be a bit better sorted into ranks than they were back in Reload.

There’s a new qualifier to taking part in any tournament, the Fortnite Chapter 6 Ranked Cups are no different. These events are held for each rank, but you do need a rank first. You’ll need to play enough to get a rank. On top of that, players need to have gone through 2FA or MFA for their Fortnite account. This is standard for all their events. Outside of that, everyone with an account not in any trouble can take part and get their glider.

The prize for the Ranked Cups isn’t cash like in other tournaments, but a special glider. Much like the victory Brella we get every season, players can get their hands on another free glider just by taking part in the event. It’s visually similar too, but unique for your rank.
If you’re playing solely to get your glider, focus on placement. Even by employing some “rat” strategies, as the campers and gameplay avoiders are known, you can get the glider fairly easily and without a major fight. It might not be the type of gameplay that wins Fortnite matches, but you can secure a free cosmetic this way!
