Fortnite has had a lot of mechanics come and go over the years, often tied to items like Chrome and Nitro. However, one game-wide mechanic that players have always wanted back is the Siphon in Fortnite. A tool that rewards aggressive gameplay.
With the new Fortnite C5 S4 update siphon is back for a single player. For the second time in Chapter 5, it’s available to a single player on the map. What is siphon in Fortnite and why is the medallion such a must-grab for players?

Siphon is a mechanic which has previously been used even off the third-party problem. You’re in a fight with another player. 90s are cranked, and eventually, a player dies. Great, you have a second to loot up and probably heal off what they dropped. Although, your fight made a lot of noise. With everyone using the Fortnite settings like on-screen audio, any kind of fight brings spectators. Enemies snoop in after a fight and wipe up the survivors, fresh with their reloaded weapons and full health bars.
The siphon in Fortnite combats this. When you get a kill, you get some health or shield back. It’s not an insta-heal. But it gives you a bit more defense for when the inevitable third-party players come for you. It encourages players to push more often since it takes away the punishment from taking fights.
That’s what the siphon is in Fortnite, but it’s been removed from the game on a general level for a long time. Bosses in C5 drop medallions though, which once again include one with a siphon mechanic.
The new season has some medallions, including one that has the siphon ability. We previously had this in Chapter 5 season 2. This season, it’s Doctor Doom’s medallion. This is how you can secure the siphon medallion in Fortnite.

Once it’s in your inventory, you’ll be able to get the siphon effect. It applies automatically. Whenever you take out another player, you’ll receive a boost to your health or shield. It’s a nice effect that should help you win Fortnite games. It does show your location on the map though and the Siphon only works for you, not your quad. So, keep all of this in mind when running Siphon in Fortnite this season.
