Hearthstone is a collectable card game based on the Warcraft universe, created by Blizzard Entertainment. But, why is Hearthstone dead?
Since its launch in 2014, it has been one of the most popular and successful games in the genre, with millions of players in every country in the world. However, in recent years, the game has had certain drawbacks regarding its appeal to fans, and the lack of innovation and its high cost have caused some of them to abandon the game altogether.
This situation + the decaying esports scene makes us wonder if Hearthstone is indeed dying.

While Hearthstone has been one of the most popular games in its genre for years, the last few months have seen a decline in the number of best Hearthstone players and the popularity of the game itself.
According to the official community and blog, Hearthstone has 100 million registered players around the globe and had 23.5 million active online players by 2020, but over the past two years its audience has declined significantly, or so we are told by professional players and the fan community.
Still, it is important to mention that the developers as such have not made any official statements or given any official numbers.
While Hearthstone has lost popularity in recent years, there are still many reasons why the game might be worth the chance to be considered by new users, while it has flaws such as price and repetitiveness, it also provides a fun experience that is great for hanging out, especially if you like Warcraft.
Despite the stories being good, the effects being cool, and the gameplay being almost perfect in general, the game has several defects.

Hearthstone is a concurrent game in the esports stakes having global tournaments with thousands of spectators. However, one has to admit that the popularity, which was once sky-high, has significantly decreased in the last couple of years.

For example, some things they are working on is “Into the Emerald Dream”, which is the new yearly cycle that will start in March 25, 2025. It brings a new expansion, with 145 new cards!
Just because a game isn’t on everyone’s lips or has lost a portion of its players doesn’t mean it’s dead, many games can simply go through a rough patch or not be the talk of the moment.
This is precisely what is happening with Hearthstone, the game still has a lot to offer to new players and fans and despite its drawbacks, it still has a fairly active and loyal player base, so we can say no, hearthstone is not dead yet and you can give it a shot, even when other options such as Legends of Runeterra and Marvel Snap are rising in popularity.
