The concept of team roles is quite popular in FPS games and VALORANT is no exception. While you might already be familiar with roles like Entry Fragger and Lurker, we’re relatively confident that many VALORANT players are unaware of the Playmaker’s role. In fact, you may have also never heard this term in the game. Therefore, here’s everything you need to know about the Playmaker’s responsibilities in VALORANT.

Playmaker is known as the second entry fragger of the team in VALORANT whose responsibilities are similar to a duelist. However, their primary responsibility is to give support to the first entry fragger before entering a site.

Let’s understand the Playmaker role with an example. Suppose you’re playing as Reyna on the Bind map and your entire team agrees to rush the B site. To help your Jett dash into the site, you must use your Leer ability also known as Flash before you jump from the Hookah.

However, your job doesn’t just end here. Since your Jett has entered the B site, your responsibility is to clear the rest of the angels and entry frag on your team. Also, keep an eye on Jett’s position and be ready to take her trade if she dies.

At this point, you might think only Duelists can be a Playmaker in VALORANT. Well, that’s not true as any agent that can provide support to the entry fragger can take on this role. For instance, initiators like Breach, Gekko, and Skye can easily fulfill this role through their ability to flash enemies. Even Omen can be a great second-entry fragger as he can quickly teleport on the site after flashing for his teammates.

As always, communication plays a crucial role so don’t forget to coordinate with your teammates prior to the round to confirm who will assume the Playmaker role.
