Everything New in Fortnite Chapter 6 Update

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 is finally here! After Remix closed up, we had a short run of down time before moving to a brand-new island. In terms of changes, this is one of our biggest updates. Even for a new Chapter start, there’s a lot to learn.

We have the obvious new additions, like the map and weapon loot pool. However, there’s tons of new movement mechanics, new systems to understand in-game, it’s a giant change. There are even some old features which have been removed. This is everything you’ll need to know from the latest Fortnite patch notes in Chapter 6.

Fortnite Chapter 6 – All Changes

New Map

The biggest change for Fortnite Chapter 6 got shown off at the end of the last event. The new map. This one is huge. At least it feels that way. For some reason though, the storm feels a little slower. So we are avoiding the chapter 5 launch issue of speedy storms. There are tons of new POIs to discover. Most of it is Japanese themed, but you’ll find new takes on Fortnite standards here. These are all of the new POIs:

  • Whiffy Wharf
  • Flooded Frogs
  • Magic Mosses
  • Demon’s Dojo
  • Pumped Power
  • Twinkle Terrace
  • Lost Lake
  • Brutal Boxcars
  • Nightshift Forest
  • Foxy loodgate
  • Seaport City
  • Shining Spain
  • Burd
  • Canyon Crossing
  • Masked Meadows
  • Shogun’s Solitude
  • Hopeful Heights

Outside of the named POIs, you’ll find tons of fun smaller spots too. With any new Fortnite map the best thing to do is jump in and explore it yourself.

New Items

Each new Chapter brings a major change to the loot pool. We get new versions of each of the weapons. Like new ARs, SMGs, and Shotguns. This season we’ve got familiar archetypes. Two ARs, with different speeds. A Pump Shotgun and a Tac equivalent. However, there’s some more creative things in here too. Like the new Katana, which has mobility benefits.

One big thing to note with the weapons is hitscan has stayed. We haven’t gone back to projectiles like in Chapter 5. This means weapons hit faster and deal damage without adjusting for bullet drop. Be careful in the open, ARs are much more lethal like this. Even in normal matches it can feel like you’re in a lobby with the best Fortnite players.

Mods are also gone, by the looks of it. The game is still using the same scopes but they’re now welded onto the weapons. You can’t customize them.

New Medallions

One feature players might not have wanted to see immediately back in the game is medallions. The boss drop that gives you certain power ups in game. These one-of-a-kind items are back, this time there’s only two. We once again have the same problem of one being overpowered, and the other being way too weak. These are the benefits:

  • Wanderer Medallion – infinite Stamina and Invisibility
  • Night Rose Medallion – Weapons reload without you hitting a button

New Quests for Legendary Items

High level loot is always hard to come by, but Expertise Quests are a new way to unlock them. These are quests from Fortnite NPCs, complete them to gain a Legendary weapon.

Oni Masks

A new feature we saw rarely in Fortnite leaks are the Oni masks. These are dropped by demons and give you a taste of their powers. They’re some of the most powerful weapons in the game right now. there’s two here, the Fire Oni Mask and Void Oni Mask.

Fire shoots projectiles. Once locked on these home in and always hit. They also do 100 damage, so the two shots you get before the cooldown will certainly kill in some modes. The other is the Void Oni, which gives you the void teleport ability. Probably the best mobility around at the moment.

Sprites

A cute new feature or Fortnite Chapter 6 are Sprites. These are creatures which you can find around shrines. There are three types which each has a different benefit.

  • Air Sprites – Creates an update vortex
  • Water Sprites – Healing effect, like a better chug splash
  • Earth Sprites – Eats items to get a better one

These sprites can also be taken over to a shrine. Redeeming them there swaps them out for a special benefit, with abilities like what you’d get from the Augments in the past.

New Vehicles

Getting around the map is a lot easier now we’re out of Chapter 2, and there’s some extra vehicles in the game. The first is the Rogue Bike. That’s a motorcycle which works similarly to the bikes in the last Japanese themed season. If you’re trying to pull off an Akira Slide this is the one to go for. The other is the Void Burn, a new sports car. Better for larger groups and plenty fast.

New Movement Added in Fortnite Chapter 6

The next new addition is one that’s going to change how Fortnite is played, especially in Zero Build. There’s four different new movement mechanics. It can be a little overwhelming when you first jump in. These are the new movement options added at the moment.

  • Ledge Jump – Jumping of a ledge sprinting gives you a larger jump, to climb up in urban areas.
  • Roll Landing – Tap jump just before landing to rolll, you’ll restore stamina. This doesn’t appear to cancel fall damage as the trailer for the season implied.
  • Wall Kick – Jump against a wall and you’ll launch off in another direction
  • Wall Scramble – If you can’t quite mantle up to a ledge you can now scramble up the wall a bit to reach.

Simple Edits in Fortnite Chapter 6

One of the final new changes in Fortnite Chapter 6 is simple edits. A system where when in edit mode, you’ll get automatic edits by where you’re looking, rather than doing the tiles as normal. It’s more limited than standard edits, but it does mean payers can get involved in Builds without the massive learning curve of mastering the Fortnite build meta that’s developed.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Tournaments

Along with the gameplay update, there’s a new set of tournaments coming. Including an FNCS qualifier event beginning just later this week! It’s an early one, but still worth watching to see I the same players are continuing to dominate in Fortnite Chapter 6. These early tournaments could even give an advantage in Fortnite betting, if some players aren’t adjusting as well.
