LoL Patch 14.14 – will it be another small patch?
Patch 14.13 was officially released on June 26 in what was a relatively small patch. There weren’t many game-changing adjustments and Riot devs mainly focused on nerfing some of the stronger champions in the current meta.
Overall, the game feels like it is in a healthy state, even though the pro play meta is dominated by a few champions which I think definitely needs some changes. Double ADCs comps are now all over the place and there are high-tempo junglers like Nidalee terrorizing both solo queue and pro play.
On the other hand, we got some stunning skins coming to the next patch. Aurora is also coming to the live servers: she will have her own Battle Bunny skin to start off.
While we monitor to see how the new patch will settle and see the shifts in the meta, the devs are putting their hands on the next patch 14.14. To find out what is being tweaked, check the sections below: the numbers are, as usual, taken from game designer Spideraxe.
Patch 14.14 Release Date
According to the official patch schedule, Patch 14.14 will be released on Wednesday, July 17. This will be the 14th patch out of the 24 updates planned for the year. It will last one week longer than traditional patches due to Riot taking the usual one-week break at the start of July.
How will the upcoming patch impact the meta?
Now that we have gotten the preview of the entire patch changes, it’s time to make some considerations about the most important changes. While there are quite a few champion changes, the most important nerfs are mainly catered to professional play, with Tristana, Nidalee, and Corki taking some hits.
Out of the three, it will be important to monitor Tristana’s numbers after the changes: she has been far too powerful and safe as a mid laner for too long, dominating the higher ends of the ranked ladder.
Among the buffs, I’m intrigued by Aphelios and Milio’s changes. The former got a small buff that will likely increase his play rate in high Elo while Milio seems like it will reward players who master him more with Q mana refund mechanic.
In the meantime we wait for the new patch to be released, check out our tier lists to find the best picks in the meta:
