With Patch 14.14 hitting the live servers, it’s time to check out what’s coming next for the update, LoL Patch 14.15.

LoL Patch 14.15 – will it be another small patch?

Patch 14.14 was officially released on July 17 with several champion changes and the release of Aurora, the newest LoL champion. A lot of the focus went on to nerfing some of the strongest meta champions, including the likes of Tristana, Brand, among others.

Despite being just a few days into the new patch, Riot’s game designer Spideraxe is already coming with a few planned changes for some highly mechanical champions. If you’re into the mobile assassins, you must see what’s coming in this patch: Zed, Akali, Irelia, and the blade master brothers Yasuo and Yone are all on the change list. League of Legends Lead Gameplay Designer Riot Phroxzon shared some thoughts on the upcoming changes. Starting with boots, Phroxzon explained they realized the item class was very strong for the cost, “leading to unintuitive optimizations to prioritize boots over Epic components that are mainly only engaged in high levels of play”. Therefore, all boots are getting hit with some nerfs.

The game designer also touched on the recent abundance of ADC champions that have been ramping up in both professional play and solo queue. The goal is to nerf the marksmen’ early game and reduce the power of 1 item spike, hoping it impacts the double ADC comps seen in high MMR.

Patch 14.15 Release Date

According to the official patch schedule, Patch 14.15 will be released on Wednesday, July 31. This will be the 15th patch out of the 24 updates planned for the year.

How will the upcoming patch impact the meta?

It’s still early to say how the meta will shift but we can first look at the major changes among the champions. Zed and Akali are definitely the most important ones: they are getting a bit more damage early on but at the cost of higher cooldowns and slightly lower ratios (aside from Zed’s E). This means that they will be less forgiving when going for the picks but they will also have to respect their cooldowns more.

  • W cooldown: 20 seconds flat ⇒ 20 – 16 seconds
