Dota 2 Patch 7.19b – Ineffective Nerfs for Broken Heroes
Everyone knew it was coming. After the sheer abuse of certain heroes at The International 2018, the announcement of the latest Dota 2 patch (7.19b) came as a relief for many players from all over the world. But, for many of them, the good news didn’t last very long. Reading the patch notes, one can quickly come to some very sad conclusions.

@Valve Corporation
Key heroes that got insufficiently nerfed
Enchantress
I personally can’t imagine how someone would be able to say with a straight face that Enchantress wasn’t completely broken before this patch. You couldn’t catch her, you couldn’t hit her, and her damage was absolutely absurd. Now at least you have a chance of bridging the gap although arguably, the nerf she got to her base movement speed (-15) will probably not deter people from continuing to spam her in your pubs.
Broodmother
Ah, Broodmother, another hero that you love to see in your pubs, especially in the enemy team. You just know before the game even begins that the guy is likely a smurf and that the game will be lost in less than 10 minutes.
However, thanks to the latest Dota 2 patch, 7.19b, Broodmother was nerfed. Her base agility was reduced by 3. I don’t know how you feel about that, but this nerf doesn’t exactly make me relax when the enemy midlaner picks the hero in my games in this 2-1-2 meta that pretty much guarantees I won’t get any help when I need it against this monster.
Clinkz
Clinkz is another hero that got insufficiently nerfed and is still broken at this point. His ultimate gives him an enormous amount of damage and HP, he can go invis and get a big movement speed boost, his Searing Arrows are a pain to deal with during the early and mid portions of the game, while his Strafe is absolutely absurd: 260 attack speed bonus and dodging all incoming projectiles for 3.5s (7.5s with the level 25 talent).
And the nerf he got was this: -2 base strength. That’s all. You can’t do something more pointless than that.
Necrophos
This leper got a tiny movement speed nerf (-5) and his Agility was rescaled from 15 base + 1.2 per level to 12 base + 1.3 per level. Again, the changes are almost insignificant because they don’t nerf the mechanism by which the hero quickly becomes overpowered if he gets ahead in networth.
Mirana
This lady has been turned into a formidable mid/carry hero some patches ago and as a result, at The International 2018 she was picked, banned or contested in almost every game. Needless to say, people expected a major nerf for her after this event. Instead, the only bruise she got was a -20 attack speed bonus for her level 15 talent. So instead of 100 (!!!) bonus attack speed after a leap, she only gets 80. On top of the natural bonus provided by the ability itself: 60/80/100/120 for 2.5 seconds.
Practically, during a fight, given that she has 3 leaps in total, Mirana will get a 200 attack speed bonus for 7.5 seconds along with a formidable engage/disengage mechanism.
